Hannity station went dead for about 20 seconds. Said he had never seen anything like it.

In a case like this, I guess you're entitled to at least a half a roll. I think most of the people at my firm who went through the 911 ordeal together had the same reaction as you. One person thought there was a connection in the timing between the arrest of the AQ terrorist and the blackout happening shortly after the announcement was made. I heard a caller into talk radio last night say he thought it was a ploy by the power companies to have an excuse to jack up utility rates. I guess there are a lot of tin foil stories to go around. Personally, I wouldn't discount anything just yet.

They just reported half of NY still down, and are saying rolling blackouts will occur over the entire region for the next 10 hours.
JUST REPORTED DETROIT MAY BE WITHOUT POWER FOR ANOTHER TWO DAYS!.
Not good.

We're definitely not out of the woods. The scary thing is that our enemy sees how vulnerable are right now.

I just spoke to some friends in New York. Raving liberals, but I maintain a professional relationship. They're all "outraged" that Bush didn't personally call any governors or mayors (evidently these powerfull men and women need a lot of handholding) to offer his support in their hour of trial.
They're really up in arms about it. I suspect it will be a big subject at the usual press conference at the White House.

I know, we were talking about that last night. I suggest people prepare themselves as best as possible. Try and imagine a scenario where the power went down for just two weeks. Just trying to get food into a region like that, to feed literally millions of people, with everything down, gridlocked etc, would be an ugly, epic nightmare.

It is truly a sad state of affairs when the liberals choose to use a dangerous and fragile situation such as this as a Bush bashing opportunity.

Tin Foil Time:
The longer it takes to come up with an "explanation" the more credible the notion that this was NOT a "natural" occurrence. I find it almost incredible luck this thing went down right at the closing bell in NY. Computer attacks have long been anticipated against our infrastructure in America. Maybe that's the "backbone" they've threatened in the past...
Just food for thought...

Looks like Quebec couldn't handle the "cascade" and shut down the entire network.
Quebec, like Texas, is on currently on an entirely different interconnect than the rest of North America. Blaming Quebec for this power failure would be like blaming France.
Time will tell if this problem originated in the U.S. or in Canada - Ontario Hydro is still showing no abnormalities occuring yesterday in its system.

Hey, me too. We get the illegals, welfare, hollyweirds, all that and the brushfires and El Nino too. I'm in So Cal, where do you hail from?

I was literally about to get into the elevator.
The door opened and suddenly the hallway went dark. Another 30 seconds, and I would have had a REALLY bad day.

... You were the first NY to post... how with no power?
Battery back-up on my laptop kicked in while connected.
Just got home from Manhattan, spent the evening bar hopping in the dark; slept in my office. What an experience.

They (the GREENS) are damaging the very enviornment that they are trying to save. The thing that gripes me is that they are a minority special interest group that pollutedticians cater to for votes.

I meant Ontario. And yes, France is probably to blame as well.
