Reporter says Canadians saying now it started at a nuclear plant in PA.That's about the fifth reported cause....

LOL! What station?

Not one map, really, no.

Weather gal on WNBC -- no storms at all in the Niagara Falls area. Reporter says Canadians saying now it started at a nuclear plant in PA. Gov Ed Rendel was on MSNBC and says that story and the story about the PA plant being on fire is also not true

Ouch...I'm reporting from mid-Michigan area that didn't go dark and my lights are doing the dim-in, dim-out thingy as I type! I'm way out here in the SW ---after the news came out about the big black-out, it was fun going around turning lights off on people just to watch their faces.

hillary flew over to CNBC, too! She is such an evil, partisan bitch. Don't mind me..I'm just angry. President Bush has been trying to get the stupid Senate to pass an energy bill for the last two years and now hillary says today is his fault. Grrrrr...and Richardson called for investigations. Here we go again. Maybe I just need to stop watching any more of this tonight.

Granholm (Mich. gov.) said that the water is pressurized thru the pipes electrically, and consequently, no power = no water.Wow -- is that widespread?

Yes, one has to wonder why the Beest is so much on the offensive. She either smells blood or is trying to deflect with the "best defense is a good offense" tactic.
Maybe the Democrats caused the whole gosh-damned thing to stir up trouble. sheesh

I believe electricity is used to pump water into elevated tanks, and gravity does the rest. And yes, I believe this technique is almost universal.

>>...Its all fluff, but that would have silenced the critics...<<
I heard one woman interviewed that said she wanted Bush to make a speech to reassure everyone that things would be all right.
Nice idea except the very people that needed reassuring wouldn't be able to hear him because they had no power!

Ouch...I'm reporting from mid-Michigan area that didn't go dark and my lights are doing the dim-in, dim-out thingy as I type!that appears to be an indication of the utility picking up load in areas that are blacked out. They'll pick up a little, the lights dim. Tnen they wait for the generators to catch up - the lights brighten up a bit. Then they pick up a little more. And so on...

There was another person(I forget who, perhaps the MSNBC guy in DC?) who said the latest theory is that it was a lightning strike, but in Quebec(which would fit with the weather) that was the trigger, but not why the problem cascaded. The problem was that the operators made a big mistake instead of following proper procedures, calling in power from elsewhere in the system, which caused a problematic surge/imbalance. It all happened in 9 seconds.

Get this. The looneys at DU think this was all a Bush conspiracy to stop Hitlery's appearance tonight on "The Daily Show".
