Hannity station went dead for about 20 seconds. Said he had never seen anything like it.

FNC seems to feel the need to hype any news story. I went thru two blackouts in NYC - everything I saw indicated that people were handling it very well. You should have heard ABC & CBS earlier
From what I can tell on MSNBC the lights are starting to come back on in NY

...where Ashleigh Banfield has finally surfaced. She is on the streets of New York...
With hope she's holding a brown bag and gulping loudly and sitting in the gutter. Oops, that was nasty.

If the power was out here, I'd probably hit the bar too.

Brooklyn & Staten Island still dark.

More vehement denials on CNN from NY Power Authority that a lightening strike caused the outage or that their plant was the root of the problem at all.

Just reported on the electric radio:
A lightning strike on the Canadian side of the Niagara generating facilities blowing up some equipment.
Having witnessed a most spectacular display there a few years ago, I don't doubt this a bit.

It looks like they got it back just in the nick of time, as people were beginning to start fires, I wonder how things are going in Detroit.

Now reporting it was NOT a lightning strike. Sheesh!
To: meyer
Lightning struck the ground 10 feet from my apt. building's meters and we lost power. I lost 2 TV sets and a vcr, blew up my computer through the telephone modem, not the power, blew up the thick plastic around the dryer plug, blew every circuit breaker with a few burnt out.
And I was in the shower! Sounded like a bomb went off.

Niagara and NY power authorities DENY lightning strike. I'll bet journalists have a college class called "Generating Conspiracy Theories 101". After all the conflicting reports and speculation, NO ONE will believe the gov'ts final report.

I should have said that it appears that the lights a comeing back on.
