I just heard the opposite on CNBC. They said reports from Canada that a lightning strike at Niagara Falls is responsible is INCORRECT.

Mars is quite a beautiful sight, right near the moon. People need to look at the bright side ---with all the lights out they can get a very nice view of the night sky for a change.

I'm telling you - the reporting is HORRIBLE. CNN has repeated the opposite of CNBC twice. John King has said Canadian and US officials agree it was likely a lightening strike. I don't believe anything I hear in the press anymore.

1010 WINS reporting that Long Island's power grid has been isolated, and they're going to try to bring it on line by itself. Expect that they may be able to do this overnight.

Metro North commuters wait on a train for it to move at the Stamford, Conn. train station, Thursday, Aug. 14, 2003, with the front of the car door open for air to circulate. Power flickered across Connecticut and some towns lost electric service completely as New York City and much of the Northeast were plunged into a blackout Thursday

DirecTV has lost all of its NYC feeds. I guess their uplink backup generator has run out of fuel.

And in about nine months, buy stocks in childrens clothing, diaper, and formula manufacturers. General Mills probably would do the trick.
