Great find and we should keep it handy to use with letters to the editors when the liberal slimey press tries to make out this was a Bush-caused problem.

...if this deal isn't terrorism, why not call out the National Guard as a precautionary measure for what MAY result from the conditions arising from this mess?Because the Governor hasn't asked us yet to step in.
And we can't, until civilian authority determines they can't handle the event with first-responder assets. Municipal, county, and state LE assets get tasked first, and not in that order.
Besides, we're talking a situation that could be over in hours, so why bother alerting the Green Suits?

I have a question. Could someone sitting somewhere using a computer crash the electric grid? Make it look like the system became overloaded. I thought the same thing. Would stand to reason. On Fox they had a guy say that prior to 9/11, the power grid details were readily available. Would take a few hotshot EE types to figure out where to cause the most damage, but certainly possible.

The clock at the South Norwalk train station waiting room is stopped at 4:15 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 14, 2003, in South Norwalk, Conn. as commuters wait for trains. Power flickered across Connecticut and some areas of the state lost electric service completely as New York City was plunged into a blackout Thursday afternoon. According Northeast Utilities some 182,000 customers were without power. Fairfield County and Connecticut shoreline towns appeared to be the hardest-hit. (AP Photo/Douglas Healey)

CBS is reporting that people are trapped in rides at the Cedar Point amusement park in Sandusky - on roller coasters and stuff. Hotter than blazes there, and they've been stuck there for a couple hours or so. Ack, hadn't thought about that possibility. I've been to Cedar Point (*great* amusement park, one of the best in the country). The place is "hugh", I can't imagine how many different rides will be stuck with literally thousands of people affected, and how hard it will be to get them down -- it's a messy enough job when *one* ride gets stuck, much less the entire park.

My favorite Bloomberg comment: he said they're setting up emergency shelters, and they'll have that info up on their website. ROFL! What a tool he is ...

I'd think Detroit might need the Nat'l Guard.

SOMEONE tell me why this is such a big deal?
I had no power for 26 hours last month and it didn't make the evening news.

Bioterror, huh? Where does a thought like that come from? Oh, I know. From someone who really hopes this isn't terrorism.Yup. That would be me. Semore M. Hersh ruined me back in the late sixties with his book, "CBW - Chemical and Biological Warfare"...

they'll have that info up on their website.Bloomberg is such a moron.

The power interruption will take time to restore this power.
Having been involved directly in 1965 in NYS, the following must happen. All power sub stations must be shut down usually manually. Next the source of power like hydro plants are the first to come back on line. As this happens major transmission substations will become active once again. Then gradually the
distribution substations will be alerted by radio to place each substaion in an orderly manner back into operation. As this happens, more generation is put on line. Since this can take several hours, the restoration will take place and all will be back to normal in a few hours. However, some will have power restored sooner than others depending on the order that is followed... k2afe

No, I dare not discuss it any more, I've been "threatened" with a "Zot" for daring to broach the subject...I never saw it...it was never posted...nothing to see here...

Correct...we've not seen Tom Ridge or John Ashcroft or anyone else fill the screen saying that this was or was not terrorism.
Of course everyone's first thought would be terrorism - there are evil people who want to murder westerners and bring about the downfall of civilization. However, after that initial nervous breath we take with that thought, we should wait for verifiable information - not suppositions from unnamed sources, or people who are looking for media exposure.
