Prayer Request for A Tiny Baby (Update in post #12850)
Myself | 8-11-03 | Brad's Gramma

Posted on 08/11/2003 12:57:30 PM PDT by Brad’s Gramma

If you will, please remember this tiny baby in your prayers. He’s the grandson of a very dear friend of mine. Logan was born on July 25. His due date was in October, making his mommy 26 weeks along, being born 3 months and 3 days early.

Logan was 1 lb 9.4 oz when he was born and is now weighing, as of this morning, 1 lb. 8.3 oz. The little guy is now 12-1/2” long.

He’s a real trooper and is fighting with all his little body can fight with. His Grandma said that he’s starting to recognize his mommy when she comes in the room and hears her voice. She said he tries so hard to open his eyes, and starts kicking his feet.

I asked my friend if there were any specific prayers, other than the obvious…and this is her reply…” A prayer of thanks for the miracle called "Logan.”

On a personal note, I’ve read the emails daily from my friend. I’ve known her for years, I’ve heard her talking about her family for years…but I’ve got to tell you that I’m SO impressed with how her children have all banded together in support. What an incredibly wonderful and loving family.

Father God, we lift up Logan’s little body to you. We pray that you can strengthen him hourly, daily, weekly, until he’s grown enough to go home with his precious family. We ask for guidance for the doctors and nurses who are caring for him. We ask for strength for his parents and extended family. Thank you so much for the gift of life. In Jesus’ Name, Amen

Fellow Freepers…….I bring you Logan!!!

"AS I said once before we will toast Baby Logan at our Thanksgiving table. :)"

I've got a picture of the Termite that's going to grace my table here at the rig on Thanksgiving.

I have so much to be thankful for, and he reminds me of what thankfulness is all about.

Oh yes. Thankful for the birth and fighting spirit that brought us all Logan. These are the important things in life. Not money, cars, boats, furs, diamonds, private planes, none of that. Important things are the simple joys in life.

We have all we truly need and I think all of us realized that as we prayed for, cried over and laughed about little Logan. God bless him and his family this day. They have their own little Thanksgiving Turkey in the form of that darling, miralce Logan.

Which reminds me...how is your daughter? We know you are thankful to have her with you this Thanksgiving. God bless everyone.

Prayers continue for Faith's complete recovery.

And of course for Termite as well. I know it will be good news from the docter man because that is one little trooper we have on our hands! Besides, how could he fail with such a great family and crew, and such good friends praying for him around the clock!

He is going to be just fine... a "little bird" told me so. :}

"We have all we truly need and I think all of us realized that"

Yeah, we all do the same thing, I think.
We go down and buy that new car or that new big screen TV or that new boat and, at first, we look at them several times a day with a feeling of pride and thankfulness that we can afford those comforts of life.
Then the car gets scratched with a grocery basket, the boat starts smelling like fish and we get tired of watching that big screen TV.
The new wears off because pleasure is very shallow.

As we dropped to our knees day after day and night after night and asked God to let us keep this precious baby, we came to realize that no earthly pleasure could grab our emotions like our love for this little boy.
The love we try so hard to convey with our written words and the love he gives back with those shining eyes, does not wane with time - it only grows stronger.

We can be so very thankful that God loved us so much that He selected each one of us to witness the miracle named Logan.
Thank you, dear Lord.

My daughter is doing fine, cub.
She survived a full scale MS attack, and she's bounced back.
She'll be with me in spirit this Thanksgiving, and the Good Lord knows how thankful I am for that blessing.
I tell Him several times a day.

UPDATE FROM NANA!

"Hi TC...
Beth just called.

The baby weighs 7 lb. 15 oz. 1 ounce short of 8 lbs!!! And he's 19 1/2" long. So he's growing, but I doubt that he will make the 9 lbs. that the ped. wanted him to weigh when he goes in for his appointment there on the 24th. He's going to have to eat a lot of cereal to get there if he does!

He has done really good on his oxygen sat rate. He's at 92%, and was at 86 the last time (if I remember correctly). As soon as he is at 94%, they will begin to start weaning him off of the canula and maybe at last his poor little nose will get some rest. Thank heaven for the o2, but the inside of his nose stays irritated because of the canula. Of course, our baby does give himself a rest every once in a while by pulling it out himself!! LOL

He got another round of the synagsis shot for RSV and so tonight his little legs will be sore. Really necessary for him to have these though to protect him from RSV. With his lungs, Logan would be in a world of hurt if he contracted that respitory bug.

He stays on the monitor for now, and his medicine for reflux has again been increased due to his weight gain. He is handling his soy formula well. Once in a while he "upchucks" it, but then all babies puke!! We are just so acutely aware of anything that Logan does because of all of his past problems.

Once again.... Logan takes giant strides. He handled his "vacation" including the 3+ hour car ride like a champ. He has visited the seacoast of Texas and smelled the salt air. Now he has again gained well in his oxygen sat rate and is on his way to hopefully being canula free by Christmas time. Wouldn't that be a gift from God to add to the ones He has already bestowed on Logan..... and on us?? And of course, he steadly gains weight.

The miracle continues..... and in such a positive way. Logan is showing signs of wanting to hold his bottle. He can now hold on to his "binkie" and sucks it with all of his might. That truly is is best friend besides his mommy!

Soon he will meet Aunti N from California and hopefully get a visit from Uncle TC when he's finished with this well. 2 people who have been insturmental in all of the prayers that have been said for the Termite. There's gonna be lots of hugs and kisses going on very soon I would think :) And Logan will respond with those big beautiful eyes. He always seems to understand and lets you know he does by the look in his eyes.

Prayers continue to be answered for this little one. Praise God.... and amen."

YOU GO, TERMITE!

Logan was 1 lb 9.4 oz when he was born.
The baby weighs 7 lb. 15 oz. 1 ounce short of 8 lbs!!!

That's an increase of over 4 times it's own weight! Time for some Stacker 2 - no?

(Beautiful baby, BTW...)
