Prayer Request for A Tiny Baby (Update in post #12850)
Myself | 8-11-03 | Brad's Gramma

Posted on 08/11/2003 12:57:30 PM PDT by Brad’s Gramma

If you will, please remember this tiny baby in your prayers. He’s the grandson of a very dear friend of mine. Logan was born on July 25. His due date was in October, making his mommy 26 weeks along, being born 3 months and 3 days early.

Logan was 1 lb 9.4 oz when he was born and is now weighing, as of this morning, 1 lb. 8.3 oz. The little guy is now 12-1/2” long.

He’s a real trooper and is fighting with all his little body can fight with. His Grandma said that he’s starting to recognize his mommy when she comes in the room and hears her voice. She said he tries so hard to open his eyes, and starts kicking his feet.

I asked my friend if there were any specific prayers, other than the obvious…and this is her reply…” A prayer of thanks for the miracle called "Logan.”

On a personal note, I’ve read the emails daily from my friend. I’ve known her for years, I’ve heard her talking about her family for years…but I’ve got to tell you that I’m SO impressed with how her children have all banded together in support. What an incredibly wonderful and loving family.

Father God, we lift up Logan’s little body to you. We pray that you can strengthen him hourly, daily, weekly, until he’s grown enough to go home with his precious family. We ask for guidance for the doctors and nurses who are caring for him. We ask for strength for his parents and extended family. Thank you so much for the gift of life. In Jesus’ Name, Amen

Fellow Freepers…….I bring you Logan!!!

I know that they wait until you are ready to go home to take those "official" pics. We had ours the day before ours went home. What a happy and joyous event in the "LOGAN Household". And it will be HIS household. I am so glad to hear tht he will be home soon and will keep praying for him and for the family daily.

The only thing I have left to say is, "Wow! Look how FAT that baby is!!!"

Jesus said, "Ask and ye shall receive". By the thousands we asked.

And by the thousands, we received. I love ya, TC. You and everyone who's prayed for this little one, I love you all.

My son(you should be able to guess his name) who spent his first 5 days in the hospital and 1st 10 days with an IV in his forehead(still has a cowlick) for treatment for Strep B, has been praying for Logan. I can't imagine 3 months.

It's so great to go home. May God richly bless him and his family.

Oh, I don't even give it a second thought anymore. Like most of us here, I have never even met the boy, but he is at the top of my prayer list. And he will be for quite some time- if not forever!

You do know that this thread can NEVER end, don't you?

LOGAN IS HOME!!

UPDATE FROM NANA!

"To all of Logan's FRamily......

As of 9:45 a.m. (cst) Logan is HOME!

Beth and Bud were told yesterday to prepare to spend the night in the "trial run" of taking care of him throughout the night. This is to insure them, and the staff, that they can handle the feeding, monitors, etc.

The night went well :) The baby only had one major episode and Beth immediately responded to it. Logan took his bottles fine and other than not liking the very quiet surroundings, he did good.

So early this morning, they were told that indeed Logan would be leaving as soon as the car was brought around, and Logan's goodies were packed to send him home! It was only the day before that they had come out to install the oxygen tanks, etc. at the house.... and everyone thought it would be a little later when he was released.

We did find out that one of the main reasons that the decision was made so quickly was to try and protect him from the RSV season that is soon to hit. Infants with RSV are also housed in NICU, and while they are put into separate little cubicles, they still are in the same area. With Logan's cruddy lungs, the doctors felt that he would be safer and better off at home.

Logan saw the sun for the first time in his life today! He road in a car for the first time and was carried across the threshold into his very own home..... all on October 19th, 2003.

Logan LOVES going in the car... but then most babies do. Once it was figured out to put sunglasses on him..... he was a happy camper and settled down for the short ride home. Beth did sit in the back-seat with him in case he had a problem, but the boy is a born traveler. He did great!

The house was quiet and dark and Logan didn't like that at all. This little guy has been under the glare of lights and noise all of his short life. Once the bright lights were turned on the football game was put on the TV..... Logan settled down and is adjusting well to home life. He doesn't mind when the dogs bark, and is drinking his bottles just like he did in the hospital. He's still smiling....... how he does love to smile!!

All of you have walked this walk with us.... you've prayed every prayer, cried every tear and rejoiced for all of the hurdles Logan has overcome. We want you to know that our family at Free Republic were the first on our minds as Logan was brought home. In fact, Beth asked me if I had notified everyone that Logan was indeed home. Truth is, Uncle TC, Aunti Nancy (BG) and Uncle Tonkin knew. I asked them to let me send the update later this evening so I could share Logan's first day at home with all of you.

It's been so emotional. There's so much ahead for this baby and for his mom. She has a huge task of trying to get this little one up and over the hump of his "cruddy lungs" and teaching me how to care for him as well. But the relief of Logan being strong enough to leave, almost 2 weeks ahead of his anticipated release date, shows the fight in Logan and the mercy and goodness of God. Indeed our prayers have been answered. At last, Logan is home ;)

I wish there was something that new to say to all of you. To Brad's Gramma for her friendship for these years, and for starting the thread for Logan. To Uncle TC for his devotion to this infant. UncleTonkin for his wake up and good nights.... the list goes on and on. The beautiful prayers, the well wishes, and the love sent via the Free Republic thread. The help given to others because of this thread..... and it all continues.

Logan has a LONG was to go. He still is a "high risk" baby. He still has big problems and months, maybe years ahead to get him caught up to where he should be. Please continue to pray for him, and for his Mom. They are quite a team those two. Unconditional love.... totally.

TC said there was something about "hard luck" children,..... that they had an aura about them. Indeed they do. Their fight, their struggle, their very continuance shows us what it's all about. And in so doing, they teach us. Quite an accomplishment for an infant 87 days old! But our family here has also taught us something. That people do care.... people will take time to pray, and laugh, and cry and be a part of something that is right and good.

Logan and our family want to continue to let you know how he's doing. As long as TC and Brad's Gramma or Tonkin can post the updates, we'll keep you informed on what's going on with him. We truly think of all of you as our extended family. Logan is so fortunate to have all of you loving and caring for him.

So as we begin another chapter in his life, we close out the one at the hospital and pray for guidance and strength to nourish and keep Logan safe in our watch. Know that you are all in our prayers of thanksgiving. Without your love, your support and your prayers.... it would have been a lonely walk indeed. We'll continue the walk together.

God bless each and every one of you.... Nana"

Thank you, Nana, for that moving update.

I think I can speak for everyone here when I say that for what we have given, we have received ten fold.
You and Beth and the Little Termite have inspired us all, and we are better people for having been a part of this miracle called Logan.
I need to thank Brad's Gramma for bringing this baby to our attention. Without her, we wouldn't have received the blessings of the last several weeks.

This miracle named Logan has brought together so many people from so many walks of life and bound them together with the cords of love.
We all look forward to continuing this journey with you and Beth and Logan as he makes progress day by day.

Thank you so much for this closer walk with God and the miracle of Logan.
