If you will, please remember this tiny baby in your prayers. Hes the grandson of a very dear friend of mine. Logan was born on July 25. His due date was in October, making his mommy 26 weeks along, being born 3 months and 3 days early.
Logan was 1 lb 9.4 oz when he was born and is now weighing, as of this morning, 1 lb. 8.3 oz. The little guy is now 12-1/2 long.
Hes a real trooper and is fighting with all his little body can fight with. His Grandma said that hes starting to recognize his mommy when she comes in the room and hears her voice. She said he tries so hard to open his eyes, and starts kicking his feet.
I asked my friend if there were any specific prayers, other than the obvious and this is her reply A prayer of thanks for the miracle called "Logan.
On a personal note, Ive read the emails daily from my friend. Ive known her for years, Ive heard her talking about her family for years but Ive got to tell you that Im SO impressed with how her children have all banded together in support. What an incredibly wonderful and loving family.
Father God, we lift up Logans little body to you. We pray that you can strengthen him hourly, daily, weekly, until hes grown enough to go home with his precious family. We ask for guidance for the doctors and nurses who are caring for him. We ask for strength for his parents and extended family. Thank you so much for the gift of life. In Jesus Name, Amen
Fellow Freepers .I bring you Logan!!!
Prayers continue for all. Glad to hear Ryan is having some good days as well. All our little fighters are an inspiration to us. God bless 'em.
May they become stronger with each passing second.
Our little one continues to do so well. He's had an exciting week.
His Aunti Barbara held him for the first time.. it's was his birthday present to her! Her birthday is today (Happy Birthday!) so it came a day early to her, but I hear they both enjoyed the visit a lot :) She had the same reaction that we all have when we hold him.... he's truly a miracle from God... and you know it the minute you put his little body in your arms.
He sucked from a bottle for the first time and that's without any feeding tube in either his mouth or nose. Unheard of we're told!! And younger than any baby in that NICU has even been tried. Logan did great and tomorrow, they will try it again :)
He reached the 4 lb. mark! And he's once again without the canula and back in a a forced oxygen isolette :)
I don't mean to always sound reflective in these updates, but how can I not? This little frail baby, who was given a "Maybe 20%" chance of survival at birth has indeed surpassed any and all expectations. Even when they decided that he had been born at 24 1/2 week instead of over 26 weeks gestation because of his lung capacity, "old Logan" just kept on surprising everyone. How could he fail? The power of the prayer chains that are being offered for him are endless. As for placing odds on God's children, I understand the medical necessity of setting standards., but Logan is a perfect example of God's master plan. No one but Him knows the outcome. He is indeed in command of our lives.
Beth told me that when he's asleep on her last visit of the day, which is usually about 11 at night, she always tells him, "Logan, it's time to say our prayers". And everytime she says that as he sleeps, this little love opens his eyes as if he understands, and they say their good night prayer. Now.... if that doesn't bring a tear to a glass eye... nothing in the world will :) But sweet tears! Tears of joy and gratitude for the blessing he has received.
On another note... and I'm sure everyone wants to know... the 2 remaining triplets made it through the night. I do know that there was a procedure being done on one again this morning that has NICU shut down until later today. God love them, and guide those who care for them to help them gain the strength that Logan has. Please do remember all associated with these 2 tiny babies in your prayers also.
Logan has officially adoped "TC", a friend who makes very long trips to come see him, as his uncle also. He will again get to see Uncle TC tomorrow as he passes through town. Maybe Logan can even show him how his beautiful western hat Uncle TC brought him is beginning to fit him!! ggggggggg
It is such great pleasure for our family to walk into NICU without the stark fear that was first associated with Logan's well being. He's not out of the woods yet... but he can at least see through the trees now! There's some corrective surgery ahead in the future before he leaves the hosptial for the hernias. His little lungs have to start developing better and stronger. That's going to be my main prayer for the time being. We have to get these little lungs going!! Wanna help...? PRAY~ big time prayers please.
And thank you all.... you not only support Logan, but our pleas for help through prayer.
God bless you one and all... and thank you ..... all of you. We love you..........."
A late night addendum:
The little Termite did well today.
The canula is still out, and he's making it, albeit with some desaps occasionally.
They're trying to let his little lungs develop.
The twins are still doing okay.
The one who had the surgery this morning is doing fine.
Thank you for your prayers, friends.
Y'all have proven what a really strong prayer force can accomplish.
GOD BLESS EACH AND EVERY ONE!
GOODNIGHT, ALL!
