Prayer Request for A Tiny Baby (Update in post #12850)
Myself | 8-11-03 | Brad's Gramma

Posted on 08/11/2003 12:57:30 PM PDT by Brad’s Gramma

If you will, please remember this tiny baby in your prayers. He’s the grandson of a very dear friend of mine. Logan was born on July 25. His due date was in October, making his mommy 26 weeks along, being born 3 months and 3 days early.

Logan was 1 lb 9.4 oz when he was born and is now weighing, as of this morning, 1 lb. 8.3 oz. The little guy is now 12-1/2” long.

He’s a real trooper and is fighting with all his little body can fight with. His Grandma said that he’s starting to recognize his mommy when she comes in the room and hears her voice. She said he tries so hard to open his eyes, and starts kicking his feet.

I asked my friend if there were any specific prayers, other than the obvious…and this is her reply…” A prayer of thanks for the miracle called "Logan.”

On a personal note, I’ve read the emails daily from my friend. I’ve known her for years, I’ve heard her talking about her family for years…but I’ve got to tell you that I’m SO impressed with how her children have all banded together in support. What an incredibly wonderful and loving family.

Father God, we lift up Logan’s little body to you. We pray that you can strengthen him hourly, daily, weekly, until he’s grown enough to go home with his precious family. We ask for guidance for the doctors and nurses who are caring for him. We ask for strength for his parents and extended family. Thank you so much for the gift of life. In Jesus’ Name, Amen

Fellow Freepers…….I bring you Logan!!!

Grandpa is Back!

Babies were fussy, both of them, but grandpa quieted Kathryn, and fed Elizabeth. All is now well. Elizabeth is now able to hold up her head for a short while, and Kathryn is trying to. I think E has a sore neck and that's why she is fussy. :)

But as you can see, the do sleep, sometimes.

They are very pretty, and precious baby girls, El Gato, and I think they already have Grandpa wrapped around their little fingers. That’s nice, and just as it should be. The world needs lots more Granpa’s like you. : )

So glad they are healthy and at home.

A quickie update from today's doctor visit.

Miss Kathryn now weighs 5 lb 1 oz, while "bigger but younger" Miss Elizabeth weighs an even 6 lbs. The gap has opened a bit, maybe, but is still smaller than at birth. Since both are over 5 lbs, and under 8 lbs, both will continue to get a checkup every two weeks.

Both got good reports, haven't caught the cold or whatever that the rest of family, including Grandma, have.

They are doing a kidney screen on Miss K, because she only the one umbilical artery, like big Sister Victoria, but unlike Elizabeth. (That's probably a contribution to the understanding of that phenomenon, identical twins, one with, one without). They did that with Victoria as well, it's just routine in the on artery cases.

I think the Head Nurse in the NICU was a Russian or other Eastern European. That's the way the NICU bundled 'em and the way it's done in Eastern Europe, especially Russia. They actually are bundled much more loosely and they generally have at least one arm out of the bundle. The Russians even bundle their heads, leaving only their little faces showing.

Such frustration for the little ones. Gotta learn about hands and fingers.

Twin Time Twin Time

Hey Kathryn. Didn't the house get really quiet today? It was so much fun just you and me and Grandma S. We got to have a girls' party on Grandma's bed.

You bet, Elizabeth. First the big blonde girl went of to have fun at something called church school. What do you supposed that is?

I'm not sure, but it's much, much quieter when she's away, isn't it?

Yeah, but you know, Elizabeth, those kisses she gives us on our heads are really kind of nice.

I agree, Kathryn, but I wish she didn't want to give them to us when we're asleep. It makes it hard to stay that way. But then the house got even quieter. Mommy had to go to some place called the doctor's office for a checkup. She came home and found us like this, just talking away.

Yup, I think it's going to be kind of nice being part of a twin set. We'll always have someone to talk to and laugh with and tickle and touch and cry with and probably fight with, too.

Just think of all the fun we'll have with people trying to tell us apart. Grandpa (Gato) already has trouble with that. Yeah, just so they don't confuse us at meal time and feed one of us twice and the other one not at all. Not a pretty picture, little sister Kathryn.

Little sister, now who was pulled out a minute ahead of whom? I don't care WHAT the hospital said, Daddy said I was first.

No, you weren't.

Yes, I was.

No, you weren't.

Yes, I was.

And now the famous cowgirl will ride the range once again. C'mon Grandma put the quarters in. C'mon horsey giddy up. Don't seem to be working. Oh well suppose I can do it all myself. OK now time to go home to Mommy and her new babies :( I tell you she just doesn't get me any more. She doesn't understand what it's like to be 2 1/2 and riding the range with the wind in her hair and her pal beneath her. She doesn't know. What's that Grandma? You have a picture to show me... of who?

Too cute...the pictures and text as well!!!

The first text, about the "Twin Time" was written by my wife. She had lain the girls on her pillow (Temperpedic, the twins only go first class :) ) and they seemed happy as two peas in a pod to be laying there like that. She took the picture as well, and thought it looked like they were having a little discussion, so she imagined one right up.

The second, horsey, text is by The Daddy, but the Blond Girl on a Horse, photo was also taken by my wife. The other one was scanned in. No digital cameras in the late '70s. :)

Happy Holidays To Everyone,

Wow, after all this time and the website is still going strong. I am truly amazed and overwhelmed every single day by the power of prayer to heal and also to console.

There really are Angels amungst us and you all are proof of that.

I am Logan’s aunt. Since the last time I was here I have rejoined the military. I am stationed in Austin, Texas.

Logan is an amazing child, he is SO smart and funny. He is fortunate little boy that so many people took time to care and pray and love him; even though nobody knew our family; you all cared enough to do this day after day; week after month, month after years. It’s funny that one little 1 pound 8 ounce baby boy could draw so many loving, caring, kind, and wonderful people together for a common goal; a place where prayers for healing and consoling continue even today, I am in complete awe!

I came back to this website to remember what hope and prayers can do. I am also here to ask all of you for help for a child.... He is 18 and graduated just last May with my oldest daughter. He was horrifically burned over 95% of his body.

http://www.helpwill.org/

I pray that God will gives his family strength; that God will be merciful for Will! If you are a member of a church please place him on your prayer list.

Always remember: You don’t know what tomorrow brings. Don’t go to bed angry. Remember when you say something to someone it maybe the last time you get to talk to them. Hug your kids. Call someone you owe an apology to. Enjoy visits with family and friends; don’t feel rushed or like it’s a chore… it’s a gift!

Regret makes us old and anger poisons the people around us!

Thank you so much for all the wonderful things that you do, also for passing this along...

Be Blessed,

Bobbi

Ping #13,591

Merry Christmas, Bobbi! God bless, and thank you and yours for your service to our country!

Very wise words of advice. Thank you for the post about Will, and the opportunity to pray for him, his family, and all of those attending his health needs. They are certainly in my prayers.

Thought Logan might like to see pictures of Miss V and her twin sisters.

Misses V, K, and E

Click on link for higher resolution version. (can't get the thumbnail thingie to work tonight).

Miss V is finally starting to appreciate that the twins are *her* sisters, and are real people. She kisses and hugs, sometimes a bit too energetically, them when they cry.
