If you will, please remember this tiny baby in your prayers. He’s the grandson of a very dear friend of mine. Logan was born on July 25. His due date was in October, making his mommy 26 weeks along, being born 3 months and 3 days early.
Logan was 1 lb 9.4 oz when he was born and is now weighing, as of this morning, 1 lb. 8.3 oz. The little guy is now 12-1/2” long.
He’s a real trooper and is fighting with all his little body can fight with. His Grandma said that he’s starting to recognize his mommy when she comes in the room and hears her voice. She said he tries so hard to open his eyes, and starts kicking his feet.
I asked my friend if there were any specific prayers, other than the obvious…and this is her reply…” A prayer of thanks for the miracle called "Logan.”
On a personal note, I’ve read the emails daily from my friend. I’ve known her for years, I’ve heard her talking about her family for years…but I’ve got to tell you that I’m SO impressed with how her children have all banded together in support. What an incredibly wonderful and loving family.
Father God, we lift up Logan’s little body to you. We pray that you can strengthen him hourly, daily, weekly, until he’s grown enough to go home with his precious family. We ask for guidance for the doctors and nurses who are caring for him. We ask for strength for his parents and extended family. Thank you so much for the gift of life. In Jesus’ Name, Amen

That is great news...4lbs 2oz. and getting to come home! A lot to be thankful for this Thanksgiving season!

There is indeed. And we are were/are. At our Thanksgiving meal, which was at a very nontraditional 7 PM, the great nieces, (third cousins to Miss V and the twins), on their own hook, decided they would say the prayer. Their prayer was one of thanksgiving to God, and then they had everyone else say what they were thankful for, and they did as well. All were thankful that the twins are here and doing so well (This was before Miss K came home) of course. I was thankful that *all* my "ladies" were around me and healthy. Interestingly Aunt B was also thankful that she'd got to spend more time with her sister, The Mommy. The Mommy in turn was thankful that Aunt B, and the rest of us, had been there for her. A very touching little private ceremony it was.
I am also thankful for everyone on this thread who offered prayers and thoughts for my family.
Anyone heard from Allegra? I just caught a brief CNN announcement on Thanksgiving morning (in a La Quinta hotel having breakfast with the great nieces) about a mortar attack on the Green Zone in Baghdad, which IIRC is where Allegra currently resides, so I'm hoping we've heard from her.... oh wait I can check to see if she's posted anything since then...wait one...
One more thing to be thankful for.
I also see that she's not even *in* the green zone, but somewhere "accross the river".
Yes, the scumbags got a little nasty on Thanksgiving, but I've heard from all my friends in the Green Zone and they're all well. It was an ugly barrage, though.
I am on a FOB about a mile and a half away from there - heard the noise, but we were unscathed.
In spite of the occasional bump like that, Iraq continues to move towards peace.
Grandpa has great niece and laundry duty back in Killeen.
Grandma and Grandpa took Miss V out for supper last night. That was nice and she was on her best behavior for Grandma. Aunt B watched the Great Nieces (all day in fact), who helped her clean and put up Christmas decorations. A great time was apparently had by all. El Gato will be taking out younger daughter (Aunt B) and her hubby for supper on Monday as little reward, and it's nice to do anyway.
Grandpa fed Miss Elizabeth while Mom and Dad were picking up her twin sister. Also monitored Miss V who was napping. Miss E ate well, burped very well, and slept the entire time until Mom, Dad and SISTER got home as did Miss Victoria. It took Miss V some time to realize there were now TWO BABIES (OH NO!) rather than the one. She does seem quite interested in the Babies, and her wanting to touch worries The Mommie, who will have to chill out a bit. Still germs, particularly viruses are a concern with preemies.
As soon as I get them, y'all will get them. Grandma hasn't sent me any from her camera, and Daddy is kind of busy. Of course I need to remember to take my stick so I can get a bunch off of his computer. I know that there should be some "two in a bed" pictures coming soon.
There is also one, which I also don't have, that has both babies still in the NICU with Daddy and Grandpa holding them up for the camera taken on the day Miss E was sprung. But I'll crop that to take out my ugly mug before I post it... probably although you've seen it on the Texas Cowboy Memorial shoot threads anyway, so maybe not.
Wonderful, wonderful news. Everyone is home, your 2 newest precious baby girls are together again.. you made my heart joyful with the news EG. Praise God...
I will add a personal note here on Logan. For the first holiday EVER since he’s been born...4+ years, Logan wasn’t sick! It was absolutely fabulous to see his eyes bright and shinning and enjoying having fun and eating well. Last year (if you remember), he almost died from double RSV pneumonia. So no matter how much we protect them, sometimes they just get really sick.
We too are thanksful for our many, many blessings. Family, friends, health and a happy family. And we remain committed to pray for those in need, and NEVER will we forget to pray for our troops, their families and this great nation.
Soups on! It’s COLD in South Texas but no rain here which we desperately need. It will come..... we just don’t know when!

LOL. Too cute! I know Miss V is wanting to touch the babies...I would too! She may be fascinated that they are real baby dolls. lol. Maybe it won't take her too long to learn how and where she can touch without hurting, etc. I remember the little daughter of one of our friends wanted to touch our baby's eyes...we all had to watch her like a hawk for a while!
Sounds like y'all had a wonderful Thanksgiving together. So glad Kathryn got to come home, even if it was a day later!
So glad Logan had a happy, healthy, Thanksgiving! I know that made it a happy time for you all. This thread is testimony of the wonderful blessings God has bestowed on him, and your family, and others - including El Gato’s family. We all are blessed by it, and thankful for all of the reasons you mentioned!
Soup sounds good! It’s cold and drizzly here. I’m filling hubby’s order for deer steak (he doesn’t like soup, unless it’s called gumbo!) Ha. I’ll fix a pot of soup soon though, and share with the ones in the family who do like it.
It is Logan's thread after all. So glad to hear that the little trooper had a great Thanksgiving.

The Twins got a treatment for that RSV stuff. But it's expensive, $1200 per shot, and they are supposed to have one a month for 4 more months. There is some uncertainty about whether the Insurance company will pay for them or not. Probably will that first installment, but after that we aren't sure. Still Grandma and Grandpa, both sets probably, and probably their two living Great Grandmas (my mother and Profesora La Gata's mother) will make sure they get them. Since Daddy works for an insurance company (not health though), it may prove possible to "convince" his health insurance company to pay for the shots. They've certainly paid plenty already. A gazzillion sonograms, 6 days in the NICU for Miss E, and 19 days for Miss K.
Ask and you shall receive, ASAP.

That's exactly what she's trying to do. But she's only allowed to touch their feet, for now. Maybe occasionally a hand, if it is well away from the face, which they aren't very often.
I think the head nurse practitioner in the NICU is of Russian extraction, or at least believes in the Russian style of wrapping the babies up like little sausages. But Miss K fooled them every once and awhile, working one hand loose. She always seems to eat better when at least one hand is free, even if it does get in the way sometimes.
Killeen, and Austin, have the cold, dreary, downright miserable rain. But we'll take it as we need whatever we can get.
Aren't all babies? But we certainly think these are.
Although at 6:45AM when you aren't supposed to get up for nearly an hour, they can be, urrr, irritating.
They got Grandma AND Miss Victoria up about 5AM this (Saturday) morning. But everyone got to go back to sleep and Miss V stayed asleep until nearly 10.
Grandpa was so exhausted last night that he fell asleep with his clothes on, including his knee brace, which I only wear for long car drives. (Long being over 45 minutes or so). I also didn't put Mort the Mutt into his cage-bed. He looked so comfortable guarding the hall to the G-nieces rooms, I didn't have the heart to make him move. He behaved like a perfect gentle-dog. The girls let him out when they got up, and even let him back in. All before Great Uncle-J dragged his old gray carcass out of bed. ( they sometimes call me Uncle-J and sometimes Daddy. Uncle J is mostly when speaking of me in the third person, they do the same with their Great Aunt)
What BEAUTIFUL baby girls! I clicked to see it bigger and wanted to reach through the screen and cuddle them both!
Well you know its not that far from Houston to Austin, when you are back in Texas. Maybe a for real cuddle could be arranged. Of course they'll have to be much larger before they can entertain visitors.
Grandpa and Elizabeth just stayed in the car. Well we also filled the gas tank of Mommy’s car and bought her a peppermint mocha from Starbucks. Grandpa’s treat.
WOW!! What a little piggie :) Great news! Sounds like they are on their way to doing just what they’re supposed to do. Be sweet, precious baby girls who bring a lot of joy to all.
One note to a previous post of yours... The RSV shot was only given to Logan once a year for the first 3 years. Interesting that it has changed so much and they give it so often now. Insurance did pay for his since he was a micro premie. Then the year that he didn’t get it (last year..the plumo doc said he didn’t need it) is when he got DOUBLE RSV pneumonia. No matter the cost, it is worth it. No guarantee they won’t get it, it just makes it not so bad.
This IS flu season. I can’t stress enough in keeping your babies away from any illness (hurt feelings or not) and making people wash their hand before touching them. Change clothes when you come in before handling them. We have worked so hard with all of this, and while Logan has had some bad times, we did lessen the chances of what was brought to him by others. All of Logan’s doctors credit the tenacity of how we have dealt with germs and protected him for how well he has done. These little guys dont’ have a lot of immune system yet.

Just got done giving Kathryn her supplemental bottle, and taking care of fussy Elizabeth.
The Twins and their Mommy have just settled in for the their afternoon nap. I've just got time to grab a bite to eat, Taco Cabana which we don't have in Killeen, and it will be almost time to go pick Miss Victoria up from preschool, which she attends from 9:15 to 2:15 MWF. Aunt B took her this morning as the twins and I had to take Mommy to the doctor.. well sort of, actually it was K's appointment.
On the RSV, the pediatrician thinks the either the insurance will pay for the first shot, or the hospital will eat it, since they did not get a pre-approval. Of course that leaves the other 4 rounds for each of them.
So keep the updates coming!!
