MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa - The Southern accent had a familiar ring. So did the youthful energy, and the polite, mama's-boy manners that shined through as he locked onto voters' eyes and answered their questions by starting with, ''Yes, sir'' or ''Yes, ma'am.'' And could it be? Could this tanned, trim Democrat running for president, with floppy hair and dimples, actually be more charming than the Arkansan who sought the White House 12 years ago?

"Edwards is touting tax cuts for the middle class, free tuition for college freshmen, and other ideas that mirror Clinton's agenda. This time around, though, they aren't firing up voters in the same way."
Maybe because people remember that after promising tax cuts Clinton turned around and raised them. Also, Clinton was in office 8 years and never did anything about offering free tuition. Which is good because it's a stupid idea anyway.

He's the latest version of Clinton? How sad for his wife and family.....

It will all make sense when a few "Monica" paralegals come forward, and his wife starts wearing crusty pantsuits.

You bet the Breck Girl of South Carolina is more charming than the "Former Occupant of the Oval Office, 1993-2001". For one thing, he has nicer hair. And these old Wallace Progressives from Iowa really lap it up when they hear a murmurred "Yes, Sir" or "Yes, Ma'am". They are flattered to see such respectfulness in what to them is a young man, scarcely older than Ashton Kutcher.

Truth is, he is more Clinton than Clinton, with that "aw shucks" persona. People are sometimes susceptible to believing this is genuine concern for the "regular" people. He's honed this skill as a trial attorney, they've been known to lie/mislead.
He is also more Clinton than Clinton in being an "empty suit". He's in this for himself, and not much more.
He is also willing to do most anything to achieve his goal, just like Clinton.
There's no wonder that they've hit it off, and Clinton has helped Edwards.
Here in NC, we could call our senior senator, Senator Gone. He's holding town meetings all across the country, including here in his home state, but he's chosen to show up in NH, IA, etc, but not in Wilmington, Charlotte, Raleigh.
Hopefully NC voters can see through him.

Far more than other Democrats seeking the White House in 2004, Edwards is channeling Bill Clinton's ability to connect with voters one-on-one. He is borrowing strategies from Clinton's playbook as he pushes his campaign this week, airing campaign ads on TV and kicking off Clinton-esque bus tours across Iowa and New Hampshire."
Mr. Edwards adaptive strategy, stolen from Bill Clinton's "ability to connect" playbook, is nothing more than the same ability that worms and maggots display as they wriggle in the ooze of decay.
Far from being mindless movement, the constantly changing, undulating movements help these organisms seek traction for their method of locomotion. In the case of worms, the rotation of the worm's body helps position bristle-like projections into more stable debris so that the worm can continue it's forward movement for the purpose of eating detritus and seeking concealment.
In the case of Edwards and Clinton, the nascent stumps of their atrophied morality are wriggled for the titillation of the elderly and ill informed. Knowing a feigned "Ma'am" or "Sir" will flatter rural folks who are unaware that the Huntley-Brinkly Report is off the air. The brief transit across the rural landscape of Iowa provides the rich, organic, bovine matter needed to fertilize a national campaign.
For the maggot, lying in a pool of viscous putrescence is much like a vacationer relaxing pool side at the Holiday Inn. The high moisture environment helps keep the young maggot hydrated and lubricated. Positioning themselves near the ragged edge of tissue that was once wholesome and vital, the maggot instinctually chews away the what is dying and decayed.
For a Democratic plurality that still considers itself the cutting edge of civil rights and standing up for the 'little guy' this ploy allows the candidate to nibble at the fringes of standing morality and determine the plausible limits of deceit. While safely ensconced in the protective lubrication of a bent over voting base, the constant *ss kissing and boot-licking ministrations of a fawning media help prevent the harsh effects of light and air from destroying the delicate tissues of the growing young insect.
RAID KILLS BUGS DEAD. USE IT LIBERALLY.

If you're not a writer, you should be.
This Edwards guy seems like a real joke to me---but one never knows these days. Since the sheeple of this country elected the Klintoon (twice!) and would probably elect Hillary in a heartbeat, who knows? This clown could stand a chance, too.

''Edwards can take complex issues and talk about them in a way that resonates with people. That's a big part of what helps John Edwards.'' He's a shape shifting liar? Master of weasel words?
