COO COO CA-CHOO BISHOP ROBINSON [John Derbyshire] This is a dreadful event, a triumph for the forces of death over the forces of life. Robinson cheerfully acknowledges that he is an active homosexual. The Bible is perfectly clear that homosexual acts are sinful. Our Lord gave sinners strict and clear instructions: stop sinning, and repent your past sins. Robinson is in brazen violation of fundamental Christian doctrine. Nobody has to be a Christian; but if you are going to call yourself one, you should follow the rules. Further, Robinson abandoned two little girls in order to indulge his sexual urges. (His supporters are glossing this like crazy. They tell you--they are telling me--that his wife was entirely on board with it, and the whole family get together once a year and dance round a maypole together singing "Kumbaya," or some damn thing. Well, if his wife was agreeable, she is as big a moral criminal as he is. Little girls need their Daddy around. If Robinson doesn't know that, he is not fit for any position of responsibility, anywhere. If his wife didn't fight tooth and nail against his abandonment, she is no Christian woman. What did Mrs Robinson say when the tots asked: "Mommy, why has Daddy gone away?" Millions of ordinary Americans struggle through worse crises every day, and come down at last on the side of social responsibility and Christian duty. Robinson came down on the side of Woody Allen: "The heart wants what it wants." Feu!) That he could become a bishop in my church sickens and disgusts me. We can show tolerance and Christian obligation towards deviant minorities without handing them the keys to the house, can't we? Apparently not, not today, not in America. For shame! For shame!
What's your problem?> This "article" was a blurb on a blog; My head alerted readers to the fact that the eloquent Derbyshire was weighing in -- and summarized what his theme. Maybe you don't want readers to have their attention drawn to this cogent article? Are you a supporter of the homo "bishop," perhaps?
How can he counsel a church member with a troubled marriage?
How can he counsel children who have been abandoned by their father?
How can he lead his congregation at large to follow every word The Bible tells us?
How can he prevent infinite personal interpretations of The Word by his congregation?
How can he...anything? Fill in the blank from here...
if only it was just the heart.....*sigh*
A disgrace all around.
He can't... and wouldn't want to if he could.
How can the ECUSA ever make a moral/ethical statement about ANYTHING in the future?
They have thrown out the only standard we have...they might as well go home.
Today, there was a resolution condemning racism. What is the basis for their condemnatiion? It certainly can't be the Scriptures. They have demonstrated they the Scriptures are meaningless to them. If it is their opinion up against that of a racist, maybe the loudest one wins? There is no absolute standard left standing.
It's time for the Episcopalians to rise above the stereotype of amiable supinity, fix bayonets, and go take their church back.
That list of sixty-odd bishops (how many of them closeted termites?) who voted for their catemizing candidate would seem to be a really good place to start. There's the rot.
I don't agree that little girls need homosexual fathers around. What if they caught him flirting with the neighbor's husband? Or worse?
I do agree, however, that he should not have been made bishop. It's going to hurt that church. And perhaps others as well. Haven't churches learned anything from the Catholic debacle? It was once a good solid church before Vatican II, when the gays moved in.
I'd say!! This is the first I've heard of it!!!
I don't think this should be dismissed and I think the Episcopalians should adress this but instead they have been hiding it!!! (Reading from the Catholic's book, I guess.)
I use to think this guy was too far out on the sinning fringe, now find he's also disgusting and irresponsible.
The whole reason that the Episcopal Charch was founded 500 years ago was to raise up divorce as a sacrament, and to laud the subsequent abandonment and impoverishment of women and children.
