MINNEAPOLIS, Aug. 5 The clergyman seeking to become the first openly gay bishop in the Episcopal Church has been cleared of 11th-hour allegations, church sources have confirmed, NBC News Jim Avila reported Tuesday afternoon. The vote by bishops to confirm the elevation of the Rev. V. Gene Robinson, which had been postponed Monday for an investigation into the surprise allegations, was rescheduled for Tuesday afternoon.

Which denomination do you belong to now? Have you considered attending an Anglican Use Church within the Catholic Church? (Not proseltyzing, just curious. I'm a ROman Catholic who is an Anglophile and I have great sympathy for Episcopalians. I love th2 1928 Book of COmmon Prayer.)

The only way for a clearing in this case would be a smearing of the fellow making the allegation. They had to have either totally discredited him in the last few hours (although people were probably working all night on the "case i.e. find dirt on accuser") or he recanted in some way. Very sad, I had my hopes raised yesterday when the news came in about the 'bishop' (Bishop to King's 2), but I suspected that the counter-attack would begin and be successful--just not so quickly.

This was cute. So, from what I gather, the guy's supporters allowed some trumped-up allegations to come forward so they could go out and 1) prove them false, and 2) at the same time paint his opponents as dirty dealers trying to smear his "good name." They must have James Carville as a consultant.

To be honest, we quit totally. Sunday morning I now watch the church of FNC with Brit Hume. We did look for other Anglican churches, specifically other Episcopalian break off churches, but they are so far away as to be impractical for us to attend. I'm not familiar with the one you mentioned.

In other news, Bishop Pat McGroin was interviewed with his life partner, Polly the parrot. Polly will tell you how much shes in love with McGroin too!
McGroin hopes to be head Bishop some day in any church.

The only ones who are against the elevation of this sexual pervert are "cows" and "breeders," and their lives are not as valuable as those of the superior beings and the supermen.

Has anyone done the math on his daughter's age and the years he's been with his partner? And I bet the Ex has some things to say.

It's the result of separation form true Apostolic teaching authority 500 years ago.
When a church is founded by an earthly king, where else might that church go, except off into error and oblivion?

Oh how lovely, the den of Satanists has decided they can clear him only after 24 hours of "investigation."
Isn't that special.

Thanks. I am too ignorant of these things. Going to church was a very pesonal experience for me but I admit to not knowing much outside the church I grew up in and loved. The changes, from the green book to hugging to ignoring the bible when it was inconvenient, just kind of turned me off.

I have a friend in a Calvinistic Episcopalian denomination, believe it or not. But, they are small.

Thanks. Fun to see I'm not alone. Well... alone in one sense but knowing most Freepers agree this is not a good thing.

So Now an openly gay apostate of the episcopalian faith
is causing the reprimand of Our Lord and Savior Jesus
Christ to come down on those who accpet this decision.
This is as predicted in the Revelation Testament, as when
God condemns the Churches by name for false teachings and evil thoughts.

Perhaps for the sake of their children, Robinson's ex-wife is 100% supportive of him.

"Finding a way fails to explain the transformation the Episcopal church has gone through over the past number of years. This church is trying to be everything to everyone, and in that endeavor has lost any claim to being a world religion."
. . .believe what has happened to the Episcopal Church. . .is the same thing that has happend to the Catholic. . .and American 'culture' in general. . .
The Liberal Left has been manipulating, diluting; spoiling. . .corrupting. . .altering the traditions; beliefs and expectations of those who particpate in that culture. . .
They have carried the mantles of enlightened individuals when in fact, they are just the opposite.
"My Grandmother, what big eyes you have. . ."
. . .they probably have had this one deleted from early childhood education.

Regardless of how one feels about the misconduct allegations, the website accusation seems a little contrived and overstated. According to Fox, it's more of a "the site linked to a site that linked to a site that linked to a site" type of deal. Blah. That's not impressive; that's dang near inevitable on the net these days.
