August 4, 2003 -- The woman accusing Kobe Bryant of rape tearfully told a bellhop minutes after the alleged attack that that she had just been "forced to have sex" with the NBA superstar, according to a new report. Friends and co-workers of the accuser told Fox News correspondent Rita Cosby that the 19-year- old hotel worker's clothing was torn when she spoke with the bellhop.

anyone catch ESPN, they just had a brief report on the Kobe incident talking about the bellman and how she looked after leaving Kobe's room, they also said the victim had red marks on her face and neck..they said it along with the bellman report, but I am not sure that the bellman saw the marks or the PD, they went on to say the PD does have photos of the marks...

........Pietrack (pronounced pee-track){bellman} reportedly told police that the woman was visibly upset, disheveled and had red marks on her neck and face, according to Smith.

Sources close to the investigation say Pietrack is considered the first link in the chain of what is called "immediate outcry," meaning he is the first person the alleged victim cried out to immediately following the alleged incident.

The alleged victim went to police the following day, approximately 13 hours after the alleged assault. Sources also said that photos taken of her at that point show the marks. Those photos are considered part of the prosecution's evidence.. ........

So ESPN is reporting the same story as FOX, but it's their own story. Note this from the article:

"Pietrack has not spoken to reporters and has declined repeated requests by ESPN."

The FOX article also noted his refusal to be interviewed.

Look, the man has admitted to adultery at the very least.

He should have had the decency to keep his mouth SHUT on the topic of "justice". Especially in front of a targeted teen audience.

If the bellhop is disinterested (i.e., not a close friend of hers or boyfriend), and coroborates her story and the torn clothing, Kobe will be nailed on this one. He'll go down to Canyon City for some hard time.

Whether he is a close friend or not, the girl went to police by noon the next day and would have told them his name then. They would have her clothes--perhaps torn--and they would have obtained a statement from the bellhop and gotten his description and account right away. So no matter the closeness, if he corroborated the physical evidence as described (the clothes) and he recounted the story she had just told the police, he'll be credible.

I must admit to being puzzled by this. How do we have direct or near-direct quotes from the bellman if he's not talking to reporters?

Personally, I think that despite the judge's order, both sides are doing their best to leak and counter-leak.

I'm guessing after Team Kobe leaked the suicidal reports and the media got its fill of "nuts and sluts" gossip on the victim, the prosecution leaked the bellman's testimony in order to get public perception back in balance.

Nobody's going to admit to this, of course, but after eight years of Clinton talking points, I have a much keener ear for the timing of when a story comes out naturally and when somebody decided it was time to come out. A lot of what has come out of the media, both pro-Kobe and pro-accuser, has that smell of controlled information. The proof to me is the dueling 9-1-1 calls - first the accuser, then Bryant. Tit for tat.

"My sources tell me...." One would THINK that someone at Fox would pull her aside and tell her that she sounds like a flaming horse's ass when she says that OVER AND OVER AND OVER. Get over yourself Rita. After that butchered report the nite of the Bush v. Gore decision, you'd think she'd wouldn't have such a high opinion of herself.

If someone comes to me and says they've been raped I call the cops or at the least tell my manager, I don't drive them home.

You or I would, but if you're a teenager with a crying beat-up girl asking you to drive her home, are you necessarily going to think through your reaction? Plus, at practically midnight, is there even a manager on duty? And why would you not drive her to the hospital instead of driving her to the police if she's claiming rape?

Ultimately, the bellman probably did what most kids working at a posh hotel would do - he just did what he was told and didn't think outside the box.

The first thing that will happen is that the trial will be moved, then through a series of events he'll be aquitted and subsequently she'll file a civil suit whihc will be settled.

And my predictions on this case keep coming true, so I have a track record.

Also, it's very nice that you would have gone straight to the police. If the bellhop story turns out to be true it does not mean she isn't telling the truth just because they didn't go straight there. It makes it more likely she IS telling the truth and less likely lying, the way I see it. Testimony will tell: Did the bellhop suggest the police and she (presuming the rape happened) was overwhelmed with shame and panic insisted no? We'll see.

I only half heard something Drudge claimed on his show last night. It involved a video camera having captured something regarding Bryant on the hotel's premises.

That would be terrific, but I'll remain skeptical unless and until a tape is produced.

It could happen, but I doubt it. Kobe has too much to lose, and even if he's guilty as hell, he's better off hoping that he can convince a jury to acquit.

I certainly don't know the facts of this case, and I'm only casually following it, but if this started out consensually, and deteriorated into rape, he's not going to get a very long sentence if he's convicted at all.

It seems as if there is plenty of room to attack the accuser as unstable and not credible based on the little I've seen. If that's so, Kobe won't plead to anything. Hell, OJ got off when the whole world KNEW he did it.

Another guess I made based on the on the record statements from the DA and her friends. Not that it has been shown to be so, but of course pictures will eventually show if there were, in fact, marks on her upper torso, neck or face as I surmised.

A litte common sense goes a long way when trying to ferret out the truth in these things.

As an aside, If this story is true then it doesn't reflect well on the hotel if an employee tells another employeee on premises that she may have been raped, yet the police are only called by the alleged victim 12 hours later.

Did the bellhop keep it to himself, or mention it to management, who then chose to ignore that a possible crime had been committed in their facility? Maybe 'looking the other way' is an attractive selling point to their celebrity clientele, but I certainly wouldn't want to stay there. In essence, did the hotel view future earnings from celebrity guests as hush money?
