August 4, 2003 -- The woman accusing Kobe Bryant of rape tearfully told a bellhop minutes after the alleged attack that that she had just been "forced to have sex" with the NBA superstar, according to a new report. Friends and co-workers of the accuser told Fox News correspondent Rita Cosby that the 19-year- old hotel worker's clothing was torn when she spoke with the bellhop.

The nettlesome thing is, (1) She is morally repugnant and a mental case, (2) She was, in fact and in truth, raped. Both (1) and (2) may be true.

The "moral repugnance" depends on whether she knew he was married, which as far as I know is an open question. The "mental case" claim is based on two 911 calls, and newspaper reports of a possible suicide attempt. Neither of those seem terribly relevant to your item #2: If she was, in fact and in truth, raped, then Kobe Bryant deserves a long vacation at a taxpayer-supported institution.

The "moral repugnance" is clear to me. If she didn't know whether he was married, she could've asked. As far as that goes - how do you define "slut"? Do you have to be at an advanced age to be one? Have had illicit sex with a certain number of people to be one?

In this context, it is irrelevant what I think of her sexual ethics. If she is telling the truth, she is a crime victim, and she doesn't deserve to be dragged through the mud just because she is asking for justice.

If it is found that she has been lying about what happened, it will be a different ballgame, of course. I'm just getting a little tired of people looking for reasons to trash her reputation. That's not where the focus should be, and hearing people shout "nuts and a slut" over and over just reminds me of Bill Clinton and his scabrous bunch.

The thing about Kobe is....he's an unlikeable person. That's why he's being lambasted. His body language screams "Hey I'm a kid too!". Doesn't work when you have ungodly amounts of cash. His teammates have come to his defense to boot. Not. Not a peep from his teammates.

One thing for sure, Kobe knew he was married. Kobe is an adulterer and why aren't we calling him a slut or a whore? Also, according to Fox Kobe spent the week before this in New York without his wife or baby- living the good life-just me and my bodygurards. What a guy! Well, what I have learned from all this is that if I am raped by a celeb (granted, at this point in my life, it may be unlikely....Eddie from Fraizer humping my leg may be it), I know that I really can't tell anyone.

Am I a slut? I don't think so. Am I crazy? Depends on who you ask. Have I poor judgement at times? Erm, ask my banker, my siblings and the guy who works on my truck and you will get three different stories. Will I deserve it? NO! (I ain't that stupid).

I AM however, extremely private, and the manner in which this girl is being trashed is like seeing her being raped over and over again. I couldn't/wouldn't go through it.

A person very dear to me was raped. She could not go through with it-either. In fact, she had to leave the state in order to get on with her life. Rape victims are often judged by others while their rapist get a pass which is why I think victim's name should be withheld. Of course, people find out anyway at a college or workplace. My loved one showed poor judgement (she didn't assume all men are beasts as some who post here think a woman should)-too trusting.

Two more rumors bite the dust (Ride home and torn clothing just not true, sources say)

This was already discussed last night.

First, I pointed out almost immediately (on Sunday) that Luke Bray's account was the girl drove herself home, so there was a discrepancy about the ride home story.

Second, while the witnesses did not say torn, they said disheviled and I've speculated, based on another report, that a button from her clothes was torn off and subsequently found in his room. That's a guess, but would explain the merging of disheviled and torn.

At any rate, injuries were visible per multiple reporters doing their own independent reporting, and the injuries were still visible the next day and photographed. Also, the story still stands that she told the bellhop what happened, regardless of the ride home aspect.

Hardly a ringing vindication of Bryant. In fact, it's not.

Ah, yes. I heard one of his brain-dead defenders on TV today saying that Kobe is "still growing up" and has so much stress, trying to deal with marriage and fatherhood.

What crap! I became a father at age 24, and no way did I consider myself a "kid"--"growing up". I was a responsible adult, working two jobs to take care of my little family, and taking grad courses on the side.

Bryant and his sychophants get more sickening every day.

Blah blah blah. I couldn't care less which way his case goes. Both sides look to have questionable motives. I was pointing out that Kobe Bryant is too young to handle that kind of money. And that he's unlikeable apparently, if his lack of support is any indication.

It's gotten to the point that people should consider boycotts of products endorsed if that is what it'll take to get these stupid wages paid to athletes scaled back to something approaching reasonable. No way does a kid who can jump and shoot like the new kid, what's his name, LeBron, no way does he need or deserve 90 million dollars from Nike. It's insulting to working people. I sound like a democrat on this one but for sure we fans have created a monster.
