With the decline in arrivals from eastern Europe... It's not that the Eastern Europeans don't want to come.
IMO, we ought to be letting in many more Latvians, Lituanians, Estonians, Rumanians, Poles, etc. They hunger for a better life too.

"had Cummings and another caseworker exchanging high fives."
Course. Not like that do-gooder is going to have to shoulder any of the costs inherent in this population transfer.

"The government expects refugees to become self-supporting within a few months and to eventually repay the cost of their air travel."
The government expects no such thing.

Some question the cost of educating and serving such a people. Plans to cluster Somali Bantu families in Cayce, S.C., and Holyoke, Mass., met with such opposition that resettlement officials canceled plans for Holyoke and will place about half the refugees slated for Cayce in neighboring Columbia instead. Typical New England liberals.

most had never flushed a toilet, flicked a light switch, climbed a flight of stairs or watched a TV. They had never talked on a telephone, cooked on a stove or ridden in a car, never held a pen or used a fork. Many have never crossed a paved road.Ignorant, backwards, and possessing no marketable skills whatsoever. Just perfect for most government jobs.

Exactly. The leftists do-gooders are building a "Slumland" theme park so that they can "experience" the slums without actually having to go to one.

The government expects refugees to become self-supporting within a few months and to eventually repay the cost of their air travel. The resettlement agencies and church sponsors provide food, clothes, furniture and the first few months' rent, but Malande's large young family probably will need welfare, Medicaid and food stamps for at least a year. He's not likely to find a first job that pays more than $7.50 an hour; Jumale has neither the skills nor the English to work any time soon.As if we don't have enough of our own moochers on welefare. Now we're importing them.
This is terrible. I blame the so-called liberal do-gooders. They bring these primitive immigrants over here then stick them in struggling working-class neighborhoods instead of their own.
The elites have segragated themselves from the peasants. The school districts who get the children of these immigrants will have their test scores pulled down. This in turn may bring less funding.

Now, they're coming to America. People of Buffalo, brace yourself for higher rape and robbery rates.

"People of Buffalo, brace yourself for higher rape and robbery rates."
Got that right. Bantus had the most trouble of any of the African groups assimilating into American culture and their descendents are the primary residents of housing projects who can't seem make it. The African Bushmen on the other hand adapted well here. What would possess us to bring in more Bantus? One thing is for sure they will vote Democrat.

God, I love this country! What a great thing to do for these people. I bet they make a go of it too, if they get enough help. What a heartwarming story! Betcha they don't do this sort of thing in France!
