In VietNam it was called chu hoi (sp?) - it meant surrendering to the other side. Too much of that.

Political correctness, not wanting to offend, and the new tolerance are the strongest weapons that people are succumbing too. And the front-line troops are activist judges, the ACLU, PFAW, NEA, and the Klintons!

Are you two arguing that our states ~should have~ the power to have "taxpayer funded churches"? 74 -tpaine-

"I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No man comes to the Father but through me." - Jesus, the Christ

can't say it better than that.

For now we fight the culture war, always remembering that in the final battle, we're on the winning side.

We need separation of state and devils ... liberals - anti christs - satanic material atheism --- the untouchables - destroyers (( 666 - beast )) of our day !

No way ... separation (( YES )) of ideology - religion - whacks --- not God !

Something we all should consider is the founding fathers did not escape tyranny to perpetuate another tyranny - MONPOLY ... we were founded upon God AND religious liberty and defending it is our obligation --- EVO liberals have made God and right and wrong - freedom - speech a thought crime and themselves ACLU whacks evolution NAZIS - our overlords - us slaves !

Watch those senate confirmation hearings and if you publicly state your beliefs and sincerity you are vetted - crucified ... there is supposed to be no religious - ideological special interest test or PLEDGE for office and now the supreme court has established a liberal CARTEL - clergy - priesthood ... abortion - pornography - evolution ONLY monopoly ? - gun control - racial - sexual preferences especiall !

The culture war ended with a stalemate and a truce in the 1990s when it became clear that neither side had the strength to defeat the other, and neither political party was very much interested in victory.

It was clear at that time that conditions weren't going to go "back" to those of the 1950s, but that there was little to be gained by pursuing the sexual revolution any further. The revolution had won, but lost its dynamism for further movement. The nineties were an era when political, cultural, and moral battles were on the back burner, and technological change and the pursuit of wealth dominated. The irony is that talk radio, cable television, and the Internet stoked the fires of hostility after it became clear that a consensus had been reached and that parties, politics and elections weren't going to change things.

With the recent debate about gay marriage, hostilities may have recommenced. The country is still deadlocked, but courts have a way of getting around the "will of the people" and the constant influence of the media is hard to counteract. So the fighting may begin again, this time centered on the gay agenda.

Maybe the author's right, though, and the result has already been decided. Perhaps we have become so privatized, so preoccupied with prosperity and civil peace, so plugged into the media/consumer culture, that when the decisions authorizing gay marriage come down, people will simply yawn and accept them. You can win the fight for free markets, individual freedom, and limited government but find that the victory leaves you little strength or solidarity to resist changes imposed from above, if they are promoted in the name of individual rights.

"It seemed that indeed the truth would be 'forever on the scaffold, and wrong forever on the throne'. With great eagerness he listened to the query, 'How long shall be the vision?'(Daniel 8:13)."

Daniel and the Coming King

Chapter 16

The Gospel In Daniel 9:24

By Dr.Desmond Ford

"It would be tragic if we contented ourselves with an analytical examination of this passage of Scripture. It is not merely a scintillating gem to be admired, but the bread of life to be eaten. It consists of 'the everlasting gospel' in minature."

"That which should concern us all the more than the issues of hermeneutics is the issue of life---our life. Not minutiae of prophetic interpretation, but sin, sorrow, and death constitute our problems. Daniel 9:24 assures us that the world is a ship and not an iceberg, that God is intensely interested in our dilemma, and, best of all, that He has done something to extricate us from the apparent cul-de-sac of existence. In Christ, the Melchizedekan King-Priest, He has brought in everlasting righteousness, freely offered to all who believe."

Chapter 14

Daniel and the Coming King---Daniel 9

By Dr.Desmond Ford

"Sir Isaac Newton, the greatest of scientists prior to the modern period, wrote a commentary upon the prohecies of Daniel and Revelations. He desribed Daniel 9:24-27 as "the foudation-stone of the Christian religion" because centuries in advance it gave the time of appearance of the Messiah and His death, as well as a comprehensive description of His saving work in heaven and earth. The prophecy likewise tells what would be the fate of the Jews consequent upon their rejection of the One whose coming they had long anticpated. The destruction of Jerusalem in A.D. 70, foretold in Daniel 9:24-27, was history's testimony that the offerings and services of the sanctuary had met their fulfillment in the advent of the promised Messiah."

Chrystalk ...

"All of this while the book itself says it is sealed up, and never will be understood ... until the End of Days --- which we are living in ... "

Chapter 14

Daniel and the Coming King---Daniel 9

by Dr.Desmond Ford @ ... GNU (( goodnews.org )).

Seal Up the Vision

"The expression 'to seal up the vision' (v.24) should be considered. This expression, 'the vision', occurs eleven times in Daniel 8:1 to 10:1, and in all these cases it refers to the vision described in the eighth chapter of Daniel. The reader is advised to read again the entire passage. In pictorial, symbolic form the prophet was shown the unfolding of all future centuries till the second advent of Christ. The famous empires, Medo-Persia, Greece, and Rome, which long oppressed the people of God, are described; but particular emphasis is given to the persecution of the church during the Christian era and also to the supremacy of the couterfeit, apostate religion over most of that period. Christ's mediatorial ministry in heaven is alluded to, but its eclipse from men's mind through a counterfeit system is fortold. The sanctuary mentioned refers both to the church temple indwelt by the Holy Spirit on earth, as well as Israel's typical sanctuary. No doubt Daniel was dazed by this revelation of the apparent triumph of evil. In his lifetime he had witnessed the destruction of Jerusalem's temple, the center of true religion, and the carrying into captivity of the people of God by an idolatrous and desolating nation. Now in vision he is informed that this state of affairs is to continue on a much greater scale throughout most of the earth's history. It seemed that indeed the truth would be 'forever on the scaffold, and wrong forever on the throne'. With great eagerness he listened to the query, 'How long shall be the vision?'(Daniel 8:13)."

"Now in the revelation of 9:24-27 the mourning seer is told that there is a greater Prince of the house of Judah, a greater atonement, a greater sanctuary, and a greater redemption than any ever before experienced by Israel. The long-awaited Messiah, the Prince, a Priest-King, will take away the sin of the world and end earth's dark night. Thus 9:24 and 8:14 point to the same reality---the kingdom of God ignaugurated at the first advent and consummated at the second."

the culture war is starting to turn around.

You see, the people who belong to the culture of death tend to die off, and that leaves family oriented hard working honest people with kids the only ones left...

The meek do inherit the earth in the long run....

Your statement is true only if sufficient numbers of people, especially families, "secede" from the mainstream culture by abandoning the public school system, not utilizing the entertainment media, rejecting dependence on government of any sort, and instructing their young in Christian morality and the historical values and concepts of Western civilization. Isolated dissenting individuals and families will not be able to survive, any more than they did in Stalinist Russia.

If America has a long term future as a free nation, it will be through millions of Christians and other believers in traditional morality creating their own infrastructure of schools (pre-K to grad school), literature and art, churches, and networks of business and professional people.

On the one hand I agree with you. It does appear it is lost, and maybe it is. It is because of the media and the PC crowd that it is. However, I will never believe that the majority of Americans are in favor of the anything goes society we seem to have. I heard a gay man say on MSNBC that polls show 60% of Americans favor gay marriage, and I know that man is a big ugly creepo liar!

We are definitely in trouble...........Socialist/Marxists are DEFINED in the media as moderate democrats and left-leaning Republicans are considered RIGHT WINGERS and Conservative Republicans are identified as EXTREMISTS and NAZIS. However I don't think the war is lost until we surrender. I hope and pray that day never comes.

"Am I way off base or am I right here."

You're definitely not way off base. I don't know that we have completely lost the war, but we are definitely losing all of the current battles.

It seems almost certain that Judeo-Christianity will be written (as much as possible) out of the law books. The next step will be defining pro-morality speech as hate speech and making it illegal ... as they are currently doing in Canada. So even a paleo-libertarian like me will find it difficult to spread the good word of good morals.

The final step will be indoctrination of the young and even forced behavioral changes ... or at least fascist style peer-pressure tactics.

Maybe then there'll be a backlash ... and maybe not.

"Most people I know are sick of this gay nonsense. It is a bunch of crap."

But there's a lot of things that "most people" are not sick of that require the same justification as the gay nonsense, e.g. Girls Gone Wild, pre-marital and extra-marital sex, recreational drug use, etc.

"Most people" want a society that is just decadent enough to support their particular pecadillos. But like women, society can't be half-pregnant: either we support libertinism to the full extent, or we don't and become hypocrites.

"Most people" would rather stick their head in a hole and passively support the homosexual agenda than be accused of hypocrisy.

"But that doesn't mean we stop standing for what is right. And, in the end, Truth wins."

In Canada they are losing the ability to speak the truth. What happens when that happens in the U.S.?

A few will speak up and go to prison or be sued into poverty, but the majority will walk in lockstep with the Gaystapo.

"One election can change everything"

If things turn around, it won't be because of an election. Reagan didn't halt the decadence of the 80's. Bush is not doing much to stop the decadence of the 00's.

It will have to be some sort of non-governmental movement like the Great Awakening (of the late 1800's if I'm not mistaken.)

"These years will make the '60s look like the '50s in cultural revolution."

I don't know what undercurrent you're talking about. The straightest arrows seem to have no problem with cohabitation or pre-marital sex. There's lots of people wallowing in decadence ... even if vicariously through goofball TV programs, e.g. reality TV, MTV, Xtreme-blah-blah-blah, etc. ... not to mention 24/7 internet porn and crapola.

"But it was expected. Conservatives can't take credit for it - it is an historical cycle."

I don't know what's more depressing: losing out to the libertines in a culture war because of freely chosen actions and tactics that don't seem to have worked, or eventually winning because of the inevitable swing of a predestined pendulum!

"the good and the moral people have to fight and keep the faith; no matter what the odds look like."

True enough. But how should we fight? In the courts that seem lost to us? In the public square which may soon be closed to us through the imposition of Canadian-style PC hate-speech legislation?

If we can't create a government that reflects our values, and we can't even speak our values in public without fear of legal or economic retribution, then what have we won?

We are then free to whisper the truth quietly amongst ourselves behind closed doors. The Queers will call this poetic justice. We will realize it is no justice at all but will have no where to go to find justice but the grave ... and our heavenly reward or punishment.
