New Play Toy!!! (Firearm)
Today I strolled into a local gunshop and much to my amazement I found a Steyr M40 (NIB) for $399.00. Id always been interested in the Steyr ever since it came out specifically the smaller s series and more so the S357.
Well I just could not pass up such a good deal, Ive seen this gun in shops down south, (GA, TN, SC) for as much as $519.00, so when I saw the $399.00 I had to have it.
Bought a pistol blanket for her, four boxes of Speer plinking ammo and some .40 cal cleaning supplies (bore brush, pads etc
) as this is my first 40.
Shot it already and WOW!!!
Accurate, once you get use to the trapezoid sites, trigger is short, very short and crisp, nice break around 5 pounds.
It is a very tight gun, first time I tried to apply the manual safety I couldnt, took three or four tries now it moves just as the manual says it should, with two fingers.
I will most likely buy a tac-lite for this and a .357 barrel, and (pray) once the AWB goes away Ill get me a few normal capacity mags for it (12 rounds) and then shell make a rather nice beside the bed gun.
Its so nice to be able to buy a gun in a gun friendly state!

100% with ya on the factory specs for mags... SIG or otherwise.
when I first picked up my P239, I noticed that the SIG factory website sells three different magazines for each caliber of P239, and personally, I'll go with the manufacturer's suggestions like my life depends on it. yup, exactly like that.
as for the folks who didn't want a .45acp you could carry in yer pocket - perhaps they haven't shot a G30... it's my idpa choice.
I gotta hand it to you, the SIG P239 is like coming home and putting on a comfy pair of shoes and levis. as accurate and crisp as it is, it's just absolutely comfy. my numma-1 carry piece.
thanks for the ping - I love gun porno. heck, if Mrs. glock sees this thread, we may end up on the range making all kinds of wild noise!

What's the difference between a phaser and a disruptor?A phaser is from Star Trek. A disrupter is from DU.

If the second amendment were really the law and if I could afford it, my old F-250 would have such a set up. If not twin 50's, at least a .30 cal air cooled.
Neither is likely to happen soon. I know you can own the weapons with the tax, forms, checks etc. but still it would be impossible to keep them in many areas.

BTW, do you know whatever happened to Sneaky Pete?
I haven't seen his posts on this type thread in some time. I didn't always agree with him but enjoyed his ideas. Now that I think about it, I did usually agree with him.

"she remarked one day, "Well, are you going to start selling your guns?""I know danger signs when I see them."
My friend, truer words were never spoken! You cannot imagine how many marriages I have seen break up among my friends over the single issue of firearms!
THUS FAR...I'm blessed. My 15th anniversary is in just 21 days. One our first anniversary, my wife got me a rifle...a nice little .22. On our second she got me a reloading press...a Dillon Square Deal. Then she got me a Banana Republic photog vest; this is the uniform of all folks who "carry" in areas that are very warm, like south Florida. If you look closely at the folks who follow the POTUS and other White House brass when they visit the desert, you'll see LOTS of those vests nearby!
She got a little concerned around Y2K when I used it as an "excuse" to go wild and since then I'm pretty much held to a two guns a year verbal agreement...unless I sell a screenplay when all remaining toys will be purchased forthwith!

Sorry to say, the one and only Sneakypete got into a serious flame war a few months back, wrote a major opus, and left FR permanently, (to FR's great loss).
He is a frequent poster on "The Other Site," LibertyPost.com. (On LP, FR is "TOS".)

He stated that if I intended to use the sidarm in a self defense or duty manner that I must have a 40 magazine for the 40 caliber and 357 mag for the 357SIG caliber to be factory reliable. Thanks for the tip!
If I had the money, I'd get one in .357 and one in .40!
As it stands now, I'm trying to figure out what to get next between a battle rifle (M1A or AR10), a Mossberg 500, or another pistol (Sig 225 or another Sig in .357).
So many choices, so little money....

Sorry to lose him.
Actually I have thought of doing the same a couple of times. I guess too many luke warm conservatives liberal Republicans and out right leftists.
I could never understand why the administrators would leave some one on this board with a screen name of "Ganymede". If one knows Greek Mythology, that is the name of the boy lover of Zeuss. In other words he is saying he is a child lover of a man. His posts are exactly what one would expect of such a name.
I was once banned for a few weeks and the person who was making the threats was left posting.
I have no idea what Sneaky Pete's reason was tho.
