But did Armbrister stay to keep an eye on the Pubbies, or because he thought running off was a cowardly thing to do?

I'm from Washington. Our Chicken D of a governor, Gary Locke, announced that he's not running for re-election in 2004 not after he screwed the taxpayers royally (with help from the House Chicken D majority and the Senate Republican majority) earlier this year. Wish you the best of luck in the boycott however.

Probably a little of both, but Armbrister is not deserving of being lumped in with the rest. He's an old guard conservative democrat who actually votes with us more often than several so-called republicans in the senate. He also said that he would vote to suspend the 21 rule and permit redistricting to pass before his colleagues fled the state.

He's not perfect but he definately is one of the better senators and one of the few respectable democrats. I'd vote for Armbrister any day over our liberal Republican senators Bill Ratliff, Jeff Wentworth, Kyle Janek, Kip Averitt, and Robert Duncan. For the record, Ratliff is essentially the Jim Jeffords of the Texas Senate. Armbrister is comparable to a Ralph Hall.

So how's the public reacting to this latest chicken run? Hasn't it screwed up more than redistricting? Again?

Once a Democratic stronghold, Texas is now very Republican, and the democrats are trying to hang onto what they have left. Knowing that they will easily loose the vote, they have decided to flee. Redistricting happens. Democrats in Texas are now strictly limited to the University of Austin and its socialist brainwashing machine, and then parts of the big cities. However, how is a boycott going to effect anything? It would more likely hurt a largely Republican (and conservative Republicans at that) state.

What should be done instead is to brand the fleeing Democrats as undemocratic and childish, instead of calling them brave rebels. Granted its tough in the still strongly liberal media, but a boycott is far fetched. How do you successfully boycott a congressional district?

I thought Ken Armbrister was the one who stayed.

I have to go check on my sister in Pasadena next week. My daughter and grandkids are taking me. We will have to stay in hotels, and plan on going to NASA. Any suggestions on where NOT to stay?

I called RATliff's local office.

110 South Madison

Mount Pleasant, Texas 75455

(903) 572-1887

The lady was nice, but I let her know I was not happy with him. He is the only R that does not want redistricting. He was also the acting lt gov when the previous attempt failed. He voted with the dims.
