[history]
July 25, 2003 -- Months before she overdosed on medication in her parents' home, Kobe Bryant's young accuser reportedly overdosed in her college dorm, it was revealed yesterday.
News of yet another hospitalization could help Bryant's defense team cast doubt on the 19-year-old woman's credibility.

And to think colleges and universities refuse to divulge ANY information about a student to their own parents. You havent' heard of the Buckley Amendment?
(d) Students' rather than parents' permission or consent. For the purposes of this section, whenever a student has attained eighteen years of age, or is attending an institution of postsecondary education the permission or consent required of and the rights accorded to the parents of the student shall thereafter only be required of and accorded to the studen

These two overdoses put a huge dent in her credibility. So does her breezy banter at a party about the size of Kobe's schlong. However they will not be admitted in court. A woman who is (allegedly) raped does not have her past history of instability put on display.
But there's another way of informing the pool of potential jurors and that's via the mass media and the internet. The internet will dig it up and the media will spread it far and wide. And that's what's going on. In the OJ trial his lawyers poisoned the jury pool and the jurors while they were sitting on the case. With Kobe it's public curiosity about the accuser that's tainting potential jurors.

Other side is Kobe took advantage of an "emotionally fragile" woman. All gets down to his zipper.

Mentally ill does not equal pathological liar, not automatically. The DA had to know about this. The evidence supporting her story must be pretty convincing.

Is it just me, or does the coverage of this whole stinkin' Kobe thing just deja vu all over again? Looks like the media is giving Kobe's accuser the Lewinsky treatment...

Such leaks about the victim (Bulls@%^t) are about to become far less common a judge yesterday issued an order barring prosecutors, defense lawyers and cops from publicly commenting on the evidence and facts of the case, said Krista Flannigan, spokeswoman for the Eagle County, Colo., district attorney. This is what's driving me insane. The victum/accuser is dragged through the mud and can't use the facts of the case to defend herself (never could). It is a one-sided fight. If she was rapped, she just got rapped again!

The DA had to know about this. Why is that? Prosecutors never make mistakes?
My gut feeling is that this DA had better have very clear and convincing physical evidence or his case is lost, regardless of what actually went on in that room.

WOLF! - WOLF!: False charges of rape often a call for help

This doesn't take to much insight or gut feelings. He is going to have Dream Team 2 representing him and chances are that if he raped her even with strong evidence, he will walk. I seen enough of the William Kennedy Smith trail to know that the rich and the famous have the deck stacked in their favor. OMG the evidence was stacked higher than the Sears Tower against Kennedy and he won.
For instance, the judge excluded sworn testimony by three other women who said Smith assaulted them in the 1980s, including one who said Smith raped her when she was drunk. The jury dismissed the woman's bruises as injuries sustained elsewhere. Everyone, but the jury knew he was guilty.

Pinging all rapetards, your victim is a 'drug taking, multiple suicide attempting, mentally unstable teen'.

That why sexual history IS relevant. Both for the accuser and the accused.

Uh, one sided? How?
The people squealing aren't lawyers or people in office, it's people she knows from HS and college. You can't gag them.

Do you honestly believe that Kobe's army of detectives are not digging stuff up? Or that after they find damaging information (whether true or not) they are not leading the press by its nose?
What I can't understand is how leak-proof the facts of the prosecution case are remaining. This is unheard of, normally no matter what a judge says the information makes its way through to the media. The facts of the case are remaining silent, why?

I dont think Kobe's team has had the time. The media is hounding this out and the small town types are happy to get thier 15.
They all say there was not much to do in eagle until now.
The prosecuter's case should have leaked by now.
