Freeper Grassroots Movement to Re-Elect Bush
July 24, 2003 | nwrep

Posted on 07/24/2003 9:00:48 AM PDT by nwrep

I want to kick off a grass-roots movement to educate and inform discerning Democrats about the real nature of their party and am soliciting suggestions from Freepers. The reasons I am doing this are several, as listed below:

* I have several conservative Democrat friends who have always voted D, but who disagree with the stance of their party on issues like AA, tax-cuts, and regulations.

* These people do not understand that regardless of the "moderate" local Dem candidate they vote for, the party agenda is driven in Congress by an extremely liberal faction of the party.

* Case in point #1: I alerted one friend to Rep. Rangel's remarks about the death of Hussein's sons yesterday (Rangel said it was "illegal" for the US to kill them). The friend said he disagreed with Rangel, and the majority of the Dems would similarly disagree with the Congressman. I asked this friend if he knew who Rangel was. He had never heard of him. I informed him coolly that if the Dem regain the House, Rangel would become the Chairman of the powerful Ways and Means Cte., where all spending bills originate, and that he is one of the most influential members of his party in the House. The friend was shocked.

* Case in point #2: I asked another Dem friend what he thought of Kerry. He gave me a canned response about his Vietnam service, etc. I then asked him if he knew about his anti-Vietnam war stance. He said he did not, but that his parents (lifelong Dem voters like himself) hated Jane Fonda and everything she stood for. I then forwarded him the NewsMax expose of Kerr's Vietnam stance, his anti-war book, his rallies with Fonda and Ramsey Clark, and his statement to the US Senate in 1971. After reading all that, he said he was disgusted, and would forward it to his mother. He conceded that if Kerry were to be the nominee, he would vote for Bush.

* The problem is that these Dem voters are blissfully unaware of the voting records of their candidates and representatives. All they go by are finely crafted campaign statements issued during the last few weeks before the election where they pay homage to FDR, Truman and JFK. As a result, these dopey Dem voters (like my friends and their parents) continue voting for these candidates thinking they are voting for FDR/JFK-like candidates.

We need to educate these people and keep them as well informed as we Freepers are about the real day to day legislative agenda of the Rat Party. We need to highlight how they continue to vote against the best interest of these conservative, patriotic Democrats (like my friends) and how they continue to display hypocrisy by constantly changing their stance on major issues.

How do we do this?

It is up for Jim Robinson to take the appropriate measures in each case where the guidelines are violated. It's his forum, and he makes the call as to whether or not someone can stick around.

That is all I have to say on the matter.

Bush may have done some things wrong, however, I'll vote for him in 2004.

Agreed.

Should one draw the conclusion that since the person being "questioned" is still posting, that JR has MADE the decision and this 'side-issue' should be dropped?

Huh? You speak with forked tongue.

Nothing impresses me like that kind of remark.

I think you've more than adequately demonstrated your ability to dodge a 'yes' or 'no' question. I'm satisfied with that, Joe.

You have a good night.

Translation: "Please make them shut up and go away... We don't like what they are saying."

That sentiment summarizes about half of FR's content nowdays.

Are you an American Indian, Sabertooth? If not, do you think your relatives who were immigrants were cowardly, and too gutless to stay in their own countries and improve them?

I would be surprised if you believed that, but you are obviously siding with Joe (since you clearly thought being "told" he was "full blooded Apache" was a trump card that invalidated the question entirely), and that seems to be the position on that side of the debate.

Not at all......I asked a question. IF the poster being questioned....Luis Gonzalez is STILL posting....and has handled this with JR....then what does that logically tell you about those who continue to question?

I was NOT asking a specious question. Thank you ....for adding your interpretation to my question. But you were wrong in your assumption. I was NOT telling someone to shut up. I WAS asking....if the question has been addressed bt the PTB....why does the question continue to be asked?

I've acknowledged up front that the final decision regarding violators is up to the people who run this site.

I came onto the thread over here at #140, in response to another poster who was gloating in the forum about violating Free Republic's posting guidelines. I think it's poor form to make a mockery of the rules, don't you?

I answer how I please, not how others demand I answer. Your question was absurd.

I speak of millions entering our country illegally, literally choking off our system, and you demand to know about my ancestors and what their immigration status may have been, hundreds of years ago.

You have demonstrated the unique ability to dodge current problems I speak of, with absurd meaningless questions about my ancestors and then demand I answer yes, or no. LOL!

Your question was absurd.

Hardly. If you're going to publicly demean people who risk death to reach our shores and become citizens, the least you can do is answer a question about your own statements.

Actually, Joe, you brought that issue up yourself (post #209 I believe), by saying that immigrants should "fix" their own countries rather than emigrating from them.

The same logic should apply to any immigrant ancestors - if they'd "had guts", they'd have fixed the problems where they came from instead of coming here, according to you.

Since you seem to require a double-standard, if the people who run this site want to maintain one for you, far be it from me to interfere. Carry on. #140

If you believe what you stated above, why haven't you dropped this as an issue?

If your intent is to "notify as many as possible" that you disagree with the decision and hence cast aspersions on the poster involved, you will continue with your posts re: this issue, no?

If it is your intent to change the decision of the owner of this forum re: his decision, why not address your concerns directly to Jim Robinson?

What, exactly, IS your intent by continuing to raise this issue?

BINGO, Luis! Bush is not perfect but does anyone honestly believe our country would be better off with one of the Democrat contenders as Commander in Chief!? Most are such hypocrites. FV, I agree, we need to call/write/email our Representatives/Senators to let them know our opinions. Unfortunately, my 2 Senators are Dems, but that doesn't stop me from calling their D.C. offices or sending emails. If Repubs would better coordinate local and national efforts maybe we would get more of the results we want. We should be flooding Senators about disgraceful filibusters of judicial nominees. Maybe then they would have the courage to allow an up or down vote.
Anyway, it's Bush/Cheney '04 !!!!

I am a a motivated voter who is firmly undecided. I will not reveal my vote until election time. In the mean time I will let the candidates know what I want.

This is all a negotiation between the voters and the candidates.

Do you go into an auto dealer and tell him "I love your car and I can afford your price. But because I love you so much and I always buy my cars here can you please lower your price by 20%, give me the mag wheels and the surround sound stereo, And a hotdog." ??

Such an approach will get you a hotdog. But the dealer had you before you opened the door.

You have to be prepared to walk out, and mean it.

The political parties chase after the undecided likely voter. Core voters are merely patronized and allowed to write the platforms (which are totally meaningless) or host the fundraisers.

So all of you Bush kool-aid drinkers can tell us who you love, send your money to the party, and come to the meetings but by all means shut up and and get out of the way. You're no longer in negotiations.

"So Excuse me if I disagree with you, I would consider the Cuban American community a grassroots conservative group."

Which is why 40% voted for Bill Clinton on two different elections?

Maybe, you should get out more.

My attitude?

How about the attitude of the small percentage of fringers who take claim for every victory and every defeat, spitting in the face of the vast numbers who fought the battles?

"I suggest the millions of others that want freedom to do the same, instead of fleeing tyranny and jumping on a boat."

When you're right, you're right Joe.

Americans took on the British Army rather than running away, stood their ground and fought them on the beaches, they fought them on the landing grounds, they fought them in the fields and in the streets, they fought them in the hills; they never surrendered, and even if, which I do not for a moment believe, they thought they couldn't defend their Island...

Crap, they had left that Island and fled here on boats...hadn't they?

Never mind...

Oh Lord!!!!!! Let me see if I can make it clear for you. I am NOT referring to ancestors, I am not referring to ancient history, I am not referring to 1890...LOL! OK?

Do you understand this? What my or your ancestors did does not matter a lick now. It's 2003, not 1890.

I understand, people that think open borders, and millions that are CURRENTLY entering our country illegal, use the "Oh what about your ancestors" argument.

I find it strange, that I suggest that others stay put in their own countries and fight for their own freedom, stand fast and fight their little tin horn dictators, instead of jumping on freaking boats and rafts and running away.

How many millions are you will to take in? 25 million more? 50 million more? 100 million more?

Why are several of you so against the suggestion that people in other countries make their own countries right, fight for their own freedoms, instead of waiting for Americans to spill our blood for them or taking the easy way out and jumping on boats. I am sick of that sh*t, and I'm a veteran.

They need to take a stand, as we have been flooded with people, legal, including millions of illegals for the past 20 years. Jumping in boats and running is pretty much taking the quick easy way out, compared to taking out a dictator, and overthrowinig a brutal government by any means necessary.
