President Bush, flanked by Secretary of State Donald Rumsfeld, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, Gen. Richard B. Myers, and U.S. Administrator in Iraq, Paul Bremer, spoke this morning in the White House Rose Garden regarding the killing of the monstrous sons of Saddam Hussein, Uday and Qusay yesterday, and the positive effect it would have on the Iraqi people, and citing the great progress that has been made by the Coalition Forces in Iraq.
Later in the morning he welcomed former President of the Czech Republic, Vaclav Havel, and Argentine President Nestor Kirchner in the Oval Office. He also found time to honor the Presidential Medal of Honor recipients in the East Room, including Vaclav Havel, Van Cliburn, John Wooden, Roberto Clemente, Dave Thomas and Charleston Heston.
There are lots of pictures today, so enjoy your ample Daily Dose of Dubya!!

**"GET YOUR HANDS OFFA ME, YOU DIRTY APE!" just kidding. **
While I know you say you're just kidding, please know that Heston suffers from ailments in his old age, including alzheimers. Sincere respect is due that precious man.

Or Heston in "The 10 Commandments." Bittersweet memories associated with Heston films. We'd see them at the drive-in. Mom would pop up supermarket bags full of popcorn -- always white because dad didn't like yellow popcorn and never too salty, on the way there dad would stop and run into the store and get a bag of Brachs wrapped candies, and we'd each have our frosty Pepsi in a 12-ounce bottle! (Dad passed away earlier this year, before I started posting on the Dose.)

I'm doing pretty well thanks Ohio, as long as I keep putting my eye drops in. I'm getting darned good at it!
Ditto for continuing prayers for Eric, mystery-ak's hubby and all our brave military. My young Marine penpal just emailed me a picture of himself. He's a real nice lookin'kid.

He's had a pretty good turnout, and lots of interest, and he's already had the privilege of leading one young man to the Lord!
That's wonderful news!

The pictures with Charlston Heston breaks your heart. What a horrible disease.

**And I'm with you on recommending Ben Hur, or even the Ten Commandments.**
I'm in total agreement, ladies.
To: Inspectorette
yep, a real man's man. i always liked him in 'touch of evil'... classic! he plays a police inspector in a mexican border town, who goes after a corrupt older cop (orson welles). beautifully filmed, delicious score, and not some sappy moralistic hollywood crud that's inflicted us for the past 30 years...

What kind of eye surgery did you have, prairiebreeze?
To: Fawnn
Wow - the drive-in! What days those were. Remember those squawk box speakers that you'd hook onto your side windows, and they'd inevitably fall off and they sounded awful.
Sympathies to you on the loss of your Dad. Sounds like he was a wonderful man.

Definitely from an era of better films. (I doubt that Walt would approve bankrolling a Michael Moore effort!)
I heard on the news today that supposedly 70% of the Germans believe the U.S. was involved in the "9/11 plot." We can thank Hollywood for exporting their version of "American culture" via conspiracy and all of the other films that distort the image of this country, I guess.

LASIK vision correction on both eyes. If you watch Fox & Friends you might have seen Mancow on their show---I think he's on almost every day. Anyway, the surgeon who did my eyes did the surgery on Mancow too. And some pro NFL players, who I don't really recognize but their autographed pix were up on the Dr.'s wall, along with Mancow's.

Wow - the drive-in! What days those were.
And still are in this area. There's a drive-in a few miles east of me. But the squawk box speakers have been replaced. Now you tune in the sound via your car radio. ;)
