President Bush, flanked by Secretary of State Donald Rumsfeld, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, Gen. Richard B. Myers, and U.S. Administrator in Iraq, Paul Bremer, spoke this morning in the White House Rose Garden regarding the killing of the monstrous sons of Saddam Hussein, Uday and Qusay yesterday, and the positive effect it would have on the Iraqi people, and citing the great progress that has been made by the Coalition Forces in Iraq.
Later in the morning he welcomed former President of the Czech Republic, Vaclav Havel, and Argentine President Nestor Kirchner in the Oval Office. He also found time to honor the Presidential Medal of Honor recipients in the East Room, including Vaclav Havel, Van Cliburn, John Wooden, Roberto Clemente, Dave Thomas and Charleston Heston.
There are lots of pictures today, so enjoy your ample Daily Dose of Dubya!!

Oh, mama, when they first got it it was such a thrill for him! Nothing like a COLD drink on a HOT day!
He's told us that they don't even need to heat up food because it's already so hot just sitting there!
They do get one meal a day cooked by a chef now too. It's not nearly as bad as it was for a while.

I'll turn on the porch light!
(By the way, I heard there's a lady organizing an effort to send air conditions to our guys in Iraq, etc. Already sent one shipment. ... But was one of those things I only heard or read about in passing during the past few hectic days.)

**I'm gonna have to wear reading glasses too, but I don't care. My thing was that I literally can't see to find my glasses if I forget where I put them. My poor hubby has to find them for me. (He's bought me a couple of those chains that you hang your glasses from, but I refuse to wear them ;-) **
A while back I looked everywhere for my reading glasses. I have pairs laying around the house for those instances but couldn't find even *those*! My daughter laughs and points to the top of my head. TWO pairs of reading glasses. sigh.

I saw Heston in Pasadena in 1997 and he was outstanding then, handsome, awake, alert, alive, just a terrific man. This Alzheimer's has come upon him suddenly and with horrible force.

** . . But on the war front, he should not compromise an iota. He must do what he judges to be in the national interest, whatever the electoral effect. Not that he needs my advice on that point. He is a patriot and would gladly sacrifice his career, and even his life, on behalf of his nation's safety. That is why, as a conservative, I will vote for him, no matter what. We are damned lucky to have this man at the helm in these perilous times. **
VERY worthy of repeat.

GREAT article, Deb! Thanks!
Calls to mind the folks on FR who claim that Reagan was a god, and Bush a socialist, all of whom have a very short memory, or a lack of sufficient historical knowledge.
Reagan was castigated by the far right, just like Bush is.
That's why I'm so thankful that he is a man of strong conviction and certitude, and that he will continue to do what is RIGHT, regardless of the griping from the left OR the right. A pox on them both!

Did you read the thread yesterday about the dem assembly's open mike? They were openly discussing how to pressure the repubs by not passing a budget. dorks. and it's all on audio tape. :o)
To: ohioWfan
How you coming with your 'holiness' today? ;o
Is that an oblique reference to the Holy Cow bells on yesterdays thread? Other than a longing for the sound of a good cow bell, I'm doing fine.
Must be getting old though. When I was a young man stationed overseas, the thing I longed for the most was pizza. Now, I go for months without it -- too fattening.
You fine son is blessed to have a good mom like yourself, praying for him and sending him goodies.

Yes, I did. It was SWEET! It's amazing how low the Democrats will go to stay in power.

Thanks for the great dose.
RE medal winner Dave Thomas, is he the founder of Wendy's? Is he still alive? Photo? If he's that Dave Thomas, he's a huge American success story, a hard-working guy who started with one little restaurant and created an empire.
