It is also being reported that Davis may have brought the shooter in with him, thus avoiding security checks. What a fatal mistake if ture.

I know two men named "James Davis." They're both white. I don't know how one can assume James Davis is a name for a black man. It's quite a leap.

Who knows? I do we even know if that report is true? I don't think so.

Let's see. Someone shoots at close range, and someone else returns fire (after probably everyone else had hit the deck-- especially the original targets) and you conclude "most likely courtesy of the 'security' guard"?

How on earth do you come up with the guard hitting the two people being more likely than the original shooter?

No problemo, it's a common error from those not that familiar with handguns.

See the article I posted at #362. "The people" weren't armed, but a security guard was, and it looks as if he may have hit two people in the balcony as he returned fire in the direction of the shooter -- apparently nobody taught the security guard that returning fire into a group of 100 people isn't a good idea.

Given the population density in New York City, there is a much greater chance that in addition to one dead creep, you would also have a lot of innocent people [??!] killed or wounded in the line of fire.

Your basis for stating this is what? the record of civilians shooting in self defense is much better than police officers when it comes to innocents being caught in the line of fire.

Dog, I wondered about that--if the man cozied up to Davis & gained his trust, they could've avoided security.

Bloomie said that the other victim was either dead or seriously wounded.

I am sort of unclear about this. The closest A and C stations would either be the Chambers Street or the Fulton Street station and both of which are some distance away from City Hall. The N/R or the 6 station is the closest. Why are they looking at the A/C Hight St Station?

I believe the proper quote should be, "This was not terrorism, but it was a grave attack on Democracy!" (Paraphrased) This is how Fox reported his comments.

I hate to say it, but I am sure glad the shooter was not a Republican.

The guy who shot him was his guest!

Could be either way, but firing into a group of 100 people because one of them is a legitimate target isn't a safe procedure. From the story, it sounds as if the shooter got his intended target. Who got the other two victims is still unknown, but the article I posted has a security firing in the direction where two of the wounded were found.

Take 4/5 from right underneath the municipal building one stop south - Fulton. Transfer to A/C - Brooklyn. "Sighting" reported at High Street station in Brooklyn.

"It is also being reported that Davis may have brought the shooter in with him, thus avoiding security checks."

But why go through the hassle of getting into and out of the building when you could have popped him outside in the parking lot?

Or perhaps the metal detectors are a visible but non-functional deterrent.

Don't be surprised if the gunman worked at City Hall and /or was one of the few people in NYC allowed to legally carry a gun. If he worked in the building, security may have waived him in without security screening. In fact, I seem to recall a seperate entrance where city employees with proper ID are allowed to enter the buiding without having to go through the metal detector. If he had any political clout, then there is also a chance that he may have had a carry permit, because liberal politcols and famous people apparently have a greater need for a gun that the average Joe < /sarcasm >.

Okay, FRiends, let's review the vital data:

A NYC Councilman has been confirmed dead from two shots to the chest;

A second person has also been killed;

The perp is possibly a black or Hispanic, reportedly wearing blue, reportedly wounded and has reportedly escaped the grounds;

NYC Mayor Bloomberg was not injurd and was in no apparent danger, but made a bone-head, but chilling remark into the mics ("It's not terror, it's democracy");

Does anyone suspect, along with me, that this was a targeted shooting - an assassination?
