It really is a good book. It's a surprisingly easy and quick read, which I think is intentional. She presents her evidence in a straightforward manner with good notes. My only wish was that she had used more primary sources, but she did use some. Her belief is that during the McCarthy hearings, the people of the country were the ones who figured out what was happening. They were anti-communist and did not appreciate the Ivy-League intellectuals who were not. I believe her book is directed to the average Joe (and Joan) who she seems to really believe is the strength and backbone of our country. I applaud her achievement here.

While I hear you, we lost the best lead we have on the location of Saddam's body. Do recall that it took the Soviets a few decades to come clean with Hitler's death.

One of SH's sons survived an assisination attempt a few years ago and had to walk with a cane. I would imagine the he had phsycial scars as well. Would those be difficult to fake? Sucks to be his body double!!

I can't do that to these kids- no matter what my views are. Good for you! I truly believe that if you teach children how to think and what their history and heritage really is, as opposed to what we've been led to believe by the revisionists, then they are far more likely to become conservative thinkers later on.

Seems there are ALOT of 13bravos around here.
*grin*
My memories are of the M119A1, and being RTO on said howitzer while trying to explain to FDC that we have a round in a hot tube.
"Fire mission! Shell HE. Fuze PD. Charge 7. Deflection 1139. Quadrant 457. Battery standby, Battery.. FIRE!"
And my least favorite:
"Checkfire, checkfire, checkfire! Rear of the piece, face the piece, Fall IN!"
Fort Sill FATC, home of the 'cwaziest wabbits yoo evah saw!'
(People meant 'gunbunny' as an insult, I turned it into a graphic!)
I do miss the smell of that powder. I swear it was addictive.

They've probably been watching the American news media and thought the US was ready to turn tail and run. If you see what the LIbs/DNC/Media has been pushing for the last 10 days there is no more support for the President, the soldiers or even America, why not hang out in plain sight?
Black crepe is now being hung throughout DNC offices.

The services need enlisted as well as officer personnel, but for many, I think the advice is sound to get the college degree and the ROTC commission first. Coming from a long line of citizen soldiers in America's wars from the suppression of Bacon's Rebellion on, there was never any question I would serve, only when and how long. I thought about a military career, and went to VMI, but ended up just doing my two years active and then a number of years in the reserves.

"That was a judgement call, based on part that there were rumors that actual news would come out of the White House."
I love Fox News, but they seem at times to have very poor judgement in the breaking news area. Anybody with half a brain would know that this White House does not report on military operations like this. They always wait until the Pentagon or Centcom gives the initial verification and reports it. This White House isn't into patting itself on the back like the Clinton's were. Fox should know this.

True; very true. They could have given a 6-second delay to the briefing just in case this was the exception that proves the rule and nobody would have been the wiser.

My husband enlisted in the Navy, and served on submarines. He has always said that submarines are hell on sailors, during peacetime. During wartime, submarines are an extremely safe place to be, while serving your country.
Yes, people who serve their country do so willingly, and know the risks. But being discriminatory when it comes to which slot you fill in the military is always a wise choice, especially when considering your future career options.

I was an 11C and round and bomb can be used interchangably. "Bomb" is commonly used everywhere but the US.

Yes! I agree. Many people might be surprised to know just how conservative young people tend to be. I have noticed many conservative tendancies/views in my kids over the years.

Quick: How soon will we hear these words from Jean Francois "I served in VietName" Kerry, DIck Gripehard and LIEberman? Ten minutes before or after confirmation that it was indeed Hussein's sons?
"I voted for this war and have supported it and the President every step of the way?"

Ready and waiting outside DNC hdq. This should be a permament posting for EMT, judging by the way things are falling apart for the RATs nowadays.
