Heavy fighting engulfed the Liberian capital Monday, killing at least 60 people as mortars pounded the city in an all-out battle between rebels and forces of President Charles Taylor.

Enraged Liberians lined up at least 18 bloodied, mangled bodies in the street outside the U.S. Embassy compound, after a shell hit an American diplomatic compound across the street, where at least 10,000 refugees have taken refuge.

The US should not be in Liberia. There is no security interest there whatsoever.

Not only we should not have been there, we backed a wrong side.

Or Germany for that matter.

Time for them to pay for their own defense.

Do you mean that the US should surrender its embassy to Liberian rebels ?

I would prefer to carpet bomb them first.

Who are these rebels coming into the city? There must be some businessmen amongst them.

Why can't a deal be worked out. Al Sharpton is in the area, he is waiting approval for his plane to land.
