A friend gave me the Four Spiritual Laws tract about 12 years ago. I kept it for another four years before reading it again and professing Christ.
I got to relay this testimony to Dr. Bright personally a little over a year ago in Orlando. It was a pleasure to meet him.

It's customary to try to think of something nice to say about a recently deceased person or else to remain silent.
It appears you resent any truth should intrude in the midst of this all-dogs-go-to-heaven thread.
No one even mentioned Bright's strange ECT support. Apparently, he believed in a fellowship with those he knew to be completely separate in doctrine.
Like Billy Graham and other celebrity Christians, Bright changed a lot over the years. They started soundly enough but both strayed from their original mission and their doctrine as they grew older. One can argue they 'matured' or that they apostasized or that they lost their convictions. At any rate, their public beliefs over the course of their lives is so inconsistent that it can only be described as Christian in a very generic way and they haven't upheld any particular doctrine very well. Whatever they have done over the years and the opinions any of us may hold, it is clear that this has been a deliberate and conscious choice on their part.

I became a Christian through CCC at the U of MN. God used the people of that organization to change my life, adn I finally joined thier staff for 8 years. I heard Bill Bright talk at our yearly staff conferences. Most of my friends were not impressed with his talks, except when he started to talk about the Lord and his relationship with him. Then I just sat in wonder. His relationship with God was so much more real than mine. He made some mistakes (few), but he was a godly man. If I could be 1/50th of a spiritual man that he was, I would be satisfied.

It appears you resent any truth should intrude in the midst of this all-dogs-go-to-heaven thread. You're the bilious one, not me. I was merely suggesting we follow custom. I would do the same for you, were you to be called to your Maker.

Who is going to replace these great men of God, such as Larry Burkett, Bill Bright and the ailing Billy Graham? I think Chip Ingram of Walk Thru the Bible and Living on the Edge is going to be used by God in great ways. Well, He already is. Crosswalk.com, one of my favorite Christian websites also has some of Chip's work.
I met Chip in college at a retreat, then our church was blessed for about 10 years to have him as senior pastor. Our church really grew under Chip's leadership in Santa Cruz, California, a liberal mecca. Chip is the real thing and as I said, is already being used by God in great ways.

Yet he never repented of his actions. How do you know?
What actions are you referring to?

I think the days of the traveling evangelists are numbered; religion just doesn't have the same ratings as smut today.
Sorry to hear that a man of pure motive has lost his audience.

Bill Bright, servant of the living God, whose life bore fruits of his yielding of himself to His Savior. Thank you, dear Lord, for this man's presence in the world and for doing YOUR WORK through Him. Each of us is a vessel through which the Life of Jesus Christ and His saving redeeming love is carried to a hurting, dying world. Bill Bright's earthen vessel bore the treasure of the Living Word into the lives of countless human beings, so needful of the Living Water, the Living Bread, the Light of Jesus in their / our lives. Thank you, Father, for this servant, and may God bless his family and those continuing in the ministry he founded.

Bill Bright wrote a letter last year to evangelist Ray Comfort admitting that the "4 Spiritual Laws" approach to the Gospel was wrong and that reliance on the "prayer of salvation" was misleading. I'm sure that was a fascinating email that you got telling about this recant by Mr. Bright.
Now, one way or another, he knows how misleading his false gospel was.
Yawn. Really yawn.
On a better note, may God comfort Mr. Bright's family and continue to raise up an army of God's disciples to continue to spread the Gospel.
The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

Thank you for the prayer. In Jesus' Name, AMEN!
