WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. Congressman Mark Foley (R-FL) today called on U.S. Senator Bob Graham to apologize for his claim that there were grounds to impeach President Bush for liberating Iraq. Congressman Foley today sent the following letter to Senator Graham:
Congressman Mark Foley
July 18, 2003
Dear Senator Graham: Over the last few months you have launched almost daily attacks on President Bush. Youve criticized his handling of the economy, slammed his tax relief package and complained about his efforts to liberate Iraq and protect Americans from terrorism. Youve voted to obstruct a prescription drug benefit for Florida seniors and have filibustered Miguel Estrada an outstanding nominee for the Fourth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals.
Considering your desire to leave your position as Floridas senior senator and cater to the liberal Democratic presidential primary electorate, I suppose it only makes sense that you would engage in this daily attack campaign. However, when you suggested yesterday there were grounds for impeaching President Bush, you crossed a line that I and many other Floridians were rather shocked you would cross.
Even as a Republican I have respected you as a lawmaker and a colleague. I have always considered you a fair person. With this charge, however, many of us in Florida are wondering to what lengths you will go to jump-start your presidential campaign.
The war on terrorism is not over. Our men and women continue to serve bravely in Iraq and in other locations around the world to preserve the freedom our nation cherishes. To level such outrageous charges and, worse yet, to raise the specter of impeachment is both reckless and uncharacteristic of your reputation.
I hope you will reflect on the charges you made yesterday and reach out to President Bush by offering an apology to him. Certainly, it is an apology that many Floridians believe is owed.
As you spend the weeks ahead campaigning in Iowa, New Hampshire and other early presidential primary states, I hope you will not forget about those who first sent you to Washington. The citizens of Florida do not want a Senator who spends his time attacking our President and obstructing our nations efforts to combat terrorism.
Senator Graham, Florida is not a consolation prize.
I look forward to hearing word of your apology in the days ahead.
With best regards,
Mark Foley
Member of Congress

If this Senator does not apologize , I say let's recall his right to run as a primary candidate!

Isn't much to write about anymore, the entire Democrat Party is guilty of being traitors and treasonous to the United States! It needs to be destroyed at the ballot box next year!
To: kattracks
Bob Graham used to be a good man but he's gone completely crazy; he's been Clintonized.

Irresponsible flinging of the "I" word may be a function of how much it hurt them when the first elected President ever to be impeached was a member of their party.

Graham is taking it too far, pure and simple.
His campaign is hardly even on the radar.

Maybe he was a "good man", and then again, maybe he was not!
At some point you have to begin thinking of these beidereinders who were and continue to be against the second Gulf War as actually being "pro-Saddam", mass graves, neighborhood torture chambers, and all.
There's really not much more that can be said about them other than "Get 'em outta' there".

I just wrote this stir-fried brain of a "senator"--and hope you and others join me in calling for his own impeachment: bob_graham@graham.senate.gov

I've never thought of Bob Graham as a 'good person' and I've lived in Florida almost 30 years.
Perhaps it's your definition of 'good' ....?????

Well, the rats try to redefine what the meaning of 'is' is, the meaning of 'alone', now they are trying to redefine the meaning of 'lie'. What do you expect from a senator who can't count past five?

You really think Bob Graham cares what we think? He only cares what Dan Blather thinks, and Peter Gin-ninny.

Foley is quite popular and plans to run for Senator -- either against Graham or someone else. He has fired the first broadside, and, yes, Graham does care what he says.

this is a good move by Foley, Rove should hitch up to this, lets make this the topic of conversation: the Dems want to impeach Bush. It ought to be talking point #1, so the Dems have to defend this.
To: kattracks
Senator Graham is unworthy of his office. He has abandodned all principles trying to win at the expense of President Bush and America itself.

Thanks for posting this! Foley's smart, and this was a good move, politically and public-relations wise. He seems to have covered all the bases and scored some points about the agenda of the Dems. Good for him!

I emailed Sen. Graham also:
Mr. Graham, I am truly ashamed that you are one of our representitives to Congress. I used to perceive you as a fair individual, but now I think there is something seriously wrong in how you see the world around you. Your relentless negative statements about President Bush duing your presidential campaign have become ridiculous. If you wonder why you are doing so poorly in your campaign, won't be re-elected to Congress and why your party is self-destructing, its because the democrat party is seen as the party of liars, cheats, devoid of any morals and supporting socialism at several levels.
I hope you will follow Mr. Foley's advice and apologize to Pres. Bush about you latest negativism, impeachment. You must really hate Pres. Bush, the way you go after him with anything you can find. Shameful!
