The case cant be clear enough that Saddam and Iraq as a whole were a serious threat to the entire region and an evil that had to be eradicated.
What is really upsetting is that Democrats are getting our guys in uniform KILLED! All this bitching about our President lying to the American public is high octane fuel to an unstable Iraq. In Saddams latest tape, he is clearly quoting our Democratic Congressmen. This quote coming from a Fox news article highlights it quite well, The new tape thanked Iraqis for resisting the coalitions occupation of Iraq, said the Americans and the British lied in intelligence reports to their own people and called on Iraqis to kick the Americans out of the country.
Democrats should be held accountable for the number of Americans killed by resistance fighters encouraged by the rhetoric here at home. They (Democrats) are clearly attempting to gain political ground using the blood of our American solders who by the way are the sons and daughters of the constituents they purport to represent! They are encouraging, almost daring a jihad be launched against out troops to embarrass our President for the atrocity of liberating Iraq, to call for too quick an end of our presence there before we can finish cleaning house, and to drag our troops home in what can only be defined as a defeat if we concede. They are hell bent on setting the stage for another Viet Nam and are too willing to say or do anything to ensure it happens. ONLY FOR POLITICAL GAIN!
Its so wonderful that we have such an open society that we can publicly criticize our political officials. But, the public damage inflicted reaches so much farther than U.S. television sets. Our Democratic Presidential hopefuls have been acting like a bunch of fleas leaping to the latest stink that wafts by. They hold no regard to the fact that other countries are watching and using whats said to wedge their own public support against us.
Like it or not we are a global society and what happens in our house affects the entire world. Its high time that Democrats face up to the fact that their stinging criticism fuels discontent and encourages fanatical régimes to resist our efforts to improve life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness throughout the world. Their complete rejection of this President makes the world so much more difficult for so many.
A perfect example of the above statement is President Bushs recent trip to Africa. Instead of marking a milestone of achievement in support for the countries of Africa and lauding his efforts to stem the tide of a frightful disease, reduce hunger, and highlight the terrible practice of slavery which still occurs today, Democrats decided to embark on a smear campaign to erase it from the news altogether. This almost ensures that nothing of real substance will occur there and condemns Africans once again to the back burner. Even the leader of the Congressional Black Caucus rejected its significance. It doesnt matter that the trip highlighted causes that are typically espoused by Democrats as Democratic causes. It doesnt matter that the economies of these countries have a global impact and that fluctuations in their economies cause fluctuations around the world. And it doesnt matter that the rest of the world will now feel less inclined to provide any assistance what so ever because our Democratic leaders are reluctant to even acknowledge those in such abject poverty. A billion dollars of our money are now at risk of going to waste because of Democratic hatred.
Our Democratic leaders have embarked on a path of total destruction for the sole purpose of political gain and have no concern or regard for any of the lives they endanger while on the offensive.

I haven't posted in quite some time and apologize if I have this in the wrong place. As an active duty military member, I felt compelled to get this off my chest. Thanks

Do you believe accountability of government elected officials should be suspended in time of war or otherwise? Do you belive that reading comprehension is a vital tool in digesting information, and would have helped you determine that nowhere in this exercise of an active duty military member is freedom of speech implicated?
To: JohnGalt
Do you believe Freedom of Speech should be suspended in times of war? It's not about freedom, it's about accountability. They are free to say what they say but if it gets people killed they should face the consequences.
Giving aid and comfort to the enemy in time of war is treason. you can be executed for that.

What is really upsetting is that Democrats are getting our guys in uniform KILLED! This is an irresponsible statement.
I seriously doubt the Fedayeen pays close attention to the out-of-power opposition in the US. The Fedayeen would kill Americans regardless of what the opposition did in the US. While it is true that Democrats find opportunity on the corpses of dead American servicemen, Democrats are not causing their deaths.
Place blame where it belongs. Islamofascists are causing American deaths. Ba'athists are causing American deaths. Fedayeen are causing American deaths.
Your statement is the right wing version of "Why do they hate us?"
To: JohnGalt
No, but it seems to me that they have no regard for the effects of their words. If our guys are really in there for the wrong reason then we should do everything we can to get the job finished correctly and get our troops out before dismantiling a Presidency with flaming rhetoric.

Seems Will H disagrees with you; I will await your reply to him:

Our action taking down Saddam has also been mispresented as "Gulf War 2," the "new war" in Iraq. The fact is, that "Operation Iraqi Freedom" was simply a decisive chapter in a war which had been going on for over 12 years. The original Gulf War was never completed. Saddam quickly broke the commitments he made in the ceasefire. His actions fully justified a resumption of Coalition conflict against the regime. What Bill Clinton was too much of a coward to do, George W. Bush was brave enough to do -- finally take down Saddam and end a war that had been going on since 1991.

But that is the stupidity of political war, a warning many of us made prior to the Iraq adventure.
The funny thing is that Democrats probably are emboldening the enemy, but it was a Republican President that put them in harms way.
The best we can hope for is bringing the boys back home as soon as possible. Damn world opinion about unfinished work...

When Democratic politicians give the enemy the perception that the casualties they are incurring are having an effect on US public opinion, they are encouraged to fight on. That is what happened in the Vietnam War. The Dems will have their day. From the highest building on the campus and town square loyal Americans will ...........

Nice of you to finally acknowledge this as it appears to be paperjam's original point. Whether or not you support going to war originally has no bearing on whether Democrat lies and innuendo give our foreign enemies ammunition to harm us further.

I must be missing something. It does not appear to me that Wil disagrees with me, so I will not purport to speak for him. The point is that the original author has every right to criticize the Democrats for their use of their right to free speech. They have the right to speak as they will, but he has every right to criticize them for the effects of their speech, and the irresponsible, indeed immoral, exercise of that right. His criticism in no way curtails their right of free speech.
They have the right to be heard. They do not have the right to have their views respected or accepted. They are due no congratulations, rather the author's righteous indignation.
