[history]
One of the mysteries of the recent yellowcake uranium flap is why the White House has been so defensive about an intelligence judgment that we don't yet know is false, and that the British still insist is true. Our puzzlement is even greater now that we've learned what last October's national intelligence estimate really said.

I was really glad to read this article, it is good that at least one media outlet does its homework and research. The others are way too eager to nail President Bush and help the dim dems.

Exactly. I gather from this editorial Bush is setting the Democrats for a huge embarrassment ;-)

Brit Intel, Israeli Intel and the US Intel are the BEST in the world...we seem to be forgetting this. The LIBERAL media whores are trying to pull down MI5 just like they are pulling down our CIA.
Slick gutted and PC'd our CIA just like he PC'd and gutted our military.

Very well thought out and researched opinion piece. Of course, it is only that; opinion. The point that you seemed to have bypassed is not the language itsself contained within the released NIE excerpts, rather it is the continuing internal struggle occurring within the Bush admin between the the hawks of the DOD/NSA/Cheney flock and the Dept. of State. As you may have discovered during your evaluation of the NIE, as well as the subsequent reports of the fallout thereof, is that State and Energy were extrmelely crtical of the section pertaining to the attempted purchase of uranium from Niger. In the document's annex, you will find an assessment by State Department intellegence claiming that Iraq's pursuit of uranium in Africa "highly dubious". As you may recall, Bush aides have claimed that up unitl the last three weeks that no objections had been raised as to the content of the intellegence brieing until AFTER the Jan. 28 speech was given.
Taken logically, this evidence must point to a much more ominous conflagration concerning the Bush administration than that of so-called "liberal" media vs. Bush. The internal battle of the Rummy/Rice/Wolfowitz id against the diplomatically minded State Dept superego will prove, in my opinion, to be the most damaging, for not only the best interest of this fine country, but also the political longevity of the current administration lineup.
