Philly? Phooey! (Philly's the past. Phoenix is the future.)

W.C. Fields said it best: Better there than dead - but not by much.

There's a reason a half-million people have left Philadelphia over the last 50 years.

They don't want to be there.

This is not some new phenomenon. W.C. Fields would pick Philly only if the alternative was internment.

Crappy food, 120 degree summer days. Monsoon season. Tarantulas, scorpions, rattle snakes, black widows. No beaches. Yep, Arizon rules.

Walking in Arizona in the summer is the closest you will get to taking a stroll in your own oven.

I'd say that the major difference between Phoenix and Philly is that while Phoenix feels like hell, Philly SMELLS like hell.

Take out all the illegal aliens turning Arizona into a third world country, and I wonder how high Phoneix's population is.

Arizona is too HOT too DRY and has too many six legged creatures living in, on or under cactus plants.

We have far more people dieing from the mosquitos (which are pretty rare in Phoenix) in this country than Tarantulas, scorpions, rattle snakes, black widows combined.

Actually, the pretzels can be bought fresh and hot if you know where to go in the burbs.

If you go to the anus of the world they stack them naked IN the street and sell them like squeegee kids and panhandlers.
Notice the exhaust systems that exit right "flavor" the stack of pretzels as well as the soot that rains down from all the diesels.

I saw this up in the NE somewhere, I only hope they don't allow this anymore.

Fugeddaboutit. Philly has Gettysburg, Valley Forge and Federal Hall. Phoenix has the OK corral. The desert sucks. Trust me on this one.

I agree. I moved to the Philly area from VA, and as much as I love my native state, I love it here too!

If you're ever in Philadelphia, ask a native (almost any native) "where do you find the best cheesesteaks?" He or she will take you to some hole-in-the-wall dive that is dirty with paint falling off the walls.

Order a large cheesesteak. Be transported to a food paradise that the fine folks in Phoenix can only dream about.

Since I left New York and slowly moved my way south across the country. The food just kept getting worse. NY has the best food. Food here, except Mexican and 5 star, pretty much sucks. And ya can only eat so much Mexican.

Phoenix is drab, sterile and only inhabitable if the air conditioning doesn't break down. Phoenix is a city for people who don't like cities but prefer to live in a shopping mall envirnoment. Philly has far better restaurants, far better cultural attractions, far better architecture and is far far more interesting. Downtown Philly has Independence Hall and the Academy of Music and the Art Museum. Downtown Phoenix has a bunch of circular things that look like sports arenas and a Greyhound Station. Philly has Princess Grace, Ben Franklin, Wilt Chamberlin and Larry of The Three Stooges. Phoenix has -- er -- help me out here.

Has anyone seen the 'Jack In the Box' commercial about
the kid going to Philly to learn about cheese steaks?

A priceles piece of advertising.
