With triple digit weather season upon us, we will make decisions weekly on whether or not to hold a "Support The Troops" Rally. We will also cut our Freeping time to one hour ..... 6:00 until 7:00 pm. We are trying to reduce our chance of heat stroke by shortening our time on the asphalt.
If you plan to attend on July 11th, please respond so we can make a decision for this week.
Whether we meet or not, remember to keep our Military in your prayers and continue to show your support in any way you are able.

A horse walks into a bar. The bartender comes up and says "Hey pal, what will it be?"
The horse orders a beer.
A few minutes later, John Kerry walks in and sits at the bar. The bartender walks up and says "Hey pal, cheer up. Why the long face?"
I'll stop if you guys will donate and get us over our fundraising goal

Due to the pleasant temperatures, the delightful afternoon air quality and the refreshing quiet at the inersection of Shaw and Blackstone my Friday evenings, during the summer months, are spent Freeping at the intersection of Highway 1 and Yerba Buena Street at the north end of Morrow Bay.
You're welcome to join me. Most of the neighbors are political conservatives and a great many are from Fresno.

Ok this is my answer maybe we could have the Freep like later on in the evening why cut it to only an hour?? 6- 7pm why not 6-9pm ??? this is my say whether anyone agrees with me or not but heck the military can endure hellish heat I am sure we can. Bring out the fans, the ice tea water and drink lots and lots of it. NO SODAS that will dehydrate you nice ice water will do the trick to saving anyone from heat stroke. Also, bring umbrellas for shade. I am going to REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY TRY TO MAKE IT OUT THERE this Friday. after I get offa work. that is if they don't make me stay late ok.
Bye Tiff

Quasimodo's Brother
It's a rarely known fact that Quasimodo (you know - the Hunchback of Notre Dame) has an identical twin bother. The twin had left the city many years ago, to live in the countryside, where he made a good living as a bell-ringer for a small rural church.
One day, Quasimiodo decides that he wants to go on a holiday - he hasn't left the city in years - so he gives his brother a ring and asks if he'd like to come over to look after the bells at Notre Dame for a week. The brother decides that this is a great idea. Nice change of scenery, and all that, so he packs a couple of bags, and heads off to Paris.
When he arrives, the first thing to get to him is the size of everything. He's used to the little church bells, and the size of Notre Dame cathedral and it's bells are a little awe-inspiring.
Quasimodo leads him up to the belfry. "The bell-cords rotted through years ago," he says, " so I have to ring the bells from up here."
"How do you do that?" asks his brother (not really sure he wants to know the answer).
"Well," says Quasi, "I run at the bells, and hit them with my head like this...". So he bashes the nearest bell with his forehead, and it makes a beatiful (and loud) ring.
After a few demonstrations, the brother decides to have a go. He runs up towards a bell, smacks his head against it, and it makes a lovely ring, but unfortunately, it also gives him concussion, and he staggers around the belfry for a moment before falling out, down, down, down to the pavement below.
Quasimodo is understandably upset, and as he peers over the edge, he can see a crowd of people gathering around the scene.
"Who is it?" says one.
"I'm not sure, but the face rings a bell," says another.
"Yes - he's a dead ringer for Quasimodo," says a third.
"No. I think it's his brother," says the second person, "I had a hunch he was back."
BTW, my donation is in the mail, and that's no joke. Thanks for everything.

Well, as you know, I can take the heat, and would be there, except Chads just got out of the hospital an hour ago, and so we can't!

"Oh my gosh Amy, that's hot!!! "
Two weeks ago, I almost overdid it. We were out for one and a half hours. I had been drinking water but I was beet red and I was kinda sick to my stomach.
If it is decided to go, I will go for an hour but I make take several breaks to the car.
Last year Mtngrl went into LensCrafters for a few minutes because she was getting sick. I think we can show our support without killing ourselves.
We will make the decision after hearing from fellow FReepers.

Yes certainly. I get sick to my stomach and almost faint when I get too hot like that. You have to be very careful. Bless your hearts. Can you get those ice pack neck thingies and keep them on the back of your neck? I can't think of what you call them.

Morrow Bay is beautiful!
I would drive down for a Support The Troops thingie if it was timed right.
I really like the idea of a two or three day event in Monterey...or even Santa Cruz.
We have a little "cabin" overlooking the Bay between Monterey and Santa Cruz that could put up quite a few people.
Grate BBQ setup out on the deck too...The little market down the street in Corrilitos makes some super sausages.
If you guys are really interested, I could do some research to find a good spot.
