MSNBC fires Savage after anti-gay remarks

NEW YORK - MSNBC on Monday fired Michael Savage for anti-gay comments.

The popular radio talk show host who did a weekend TV show for the cable channel referred to an unidentified caller to his show Saturday as a "sodomite" and said he should "get AIDS and die."

The "issue" is you alluded to "new posters" supposedly appearing on this thread when there have been no "new posters" but long-time freepers posting their remarks. That's all I was saying.

And I have no idea what you mean about "committee members" and "forum posters". The topic was someone opined that "new posters" had appeared in order to trash Michael Savage. That is not the case.

Just because one is for homosexuality doesn't mean one is for having people contract AIDS and DIE. WHAT WOULD JESUS DO? HE would LOVE these people and try to HELP them, and he wouldn't HOPE that they contracted the AIDS virus. But, Savage wouldn't know the love of JESUS since he isn't even a CHRISTIAN. ANY CHRISTIAN who supports and agrees with SAVAGE's (Wiener's) IDIOTIC STATEMENT needs to ask himself whether he is TRULY a CHRISTIAN who loves everyone, even those who do evil.

Michael made 3 distinct death threat insults at the caller. Some articles only include the AIDS reference. This article had the sausage insult as well. This transcript as a third (a parasitic lifeform found in some undercooked meats).

CALLER: "Hey Michael Savage, a pleasure to speak with you today. I was flying out of LaGuardia, and there was two undercover security guards. Somebody was smoking in the bathroom"

SAVAGE: "Someone was smoking in the bathroom."

CALLER: "Unbelievable."

SAVAGE: "What happened?"

CALLER: "Half-hour into the flight, I need to suggest that Don and Mike take your [silence] cause your teeth are [unintelligible]

SAVAGE: "Alright, so you're one of those sodomists? Are you a sodomite? "

CALLER: "Yes, I am."

SAVAGE: "Oh, you're one of the sodomites! You should only get AIDS and die, you pig! How's that? [off-screen crew can be heard shouting "Whoa!"] Why don't you see if you can sue me, you pig? You got nothing better than to put me down, you piece of garbage? You got nothing to do today? Go eat a sausage and choke on it. Get trichinosis. OK, do we have another nice caller here who's busy because he didn't have a nice night in the bathhouse and is angry at me today? Huh? Get me another one, put another sodomite on! No more calls? I don't care. Let's go to the next scene. I don't care about these bums, they mean nothing to me. They're all sausages."

He was telling the caller to drop dead. Is a AIDS politically correct disease? The other 2 methods of death Michael mentioned (choking on food or parasites) don't seem to be drawing nearly as much press.

Some accounts of the incident drop them out entirely.

The comment was not serious; it was an outrageous response to a personal insult by a prank caller. It was in bad taste. He apologized. He lost his job.

I've heard worse comments that came with no rebuke against those on the left.

Maybe what you observe as hate you can't recognize as the rest of us being fed up with people like you as being hypocrites who don't have the guts to stand up for what's right and tell it like it is. An eternity in Hell is a lot worse punishment than a passing time with a lethal disease such as AIDS.

I recommend that we start being a little more compassionate towards homosexuals and illegal aliens. After all they are doing jobs many of us don't want to do. Besides, we can use the votes, right?

I honestly can't believe I'm hearing such an intellectually shallow comment like this on FR, of all places. You do realize, of course, that the 1st Amendment refers to government censorship of speech, and not on what a private company like MSNBC chooses to set limits in its workplace?

The Nazis went after whoever disagreed with them (remember the poem "When the came for the Jews...". Now this is an attack and setup by the radical left. When a radical gay (whether it was a setup or not) personally attacks someone I believe the person (Michael Savage) can say anything back to them. In my opinion this was a clear setup by GLAAD who wanted Savage off MSNBC before he got on. They are a radical group who wants to mainstream deviant behavior going so far as to push for Gay Clubs (these are going on currently even in my former High School today.

GLAAD is a dangerous group and if they are allowed to continue what they are doing the moral ground of this country is doomed. I have watched every episode of the Savage Nation on MSNBC and have been a long time listener to the Savage Nation on radio and can clearly say Savage is not anti-gay. He is however, anti-radical gay, which means those who want to molest your boys, corrupt your children and flaunt their deviancy to the entire world.

This goes hand-in-hand with secularism, and Michael Savage isn't Christian he is Jewish. Savage stands for Judeo-Christian morals which I think is a good thing for America. The argument began with Savage bashing to USSCOTUS for the sodomy ruling which saw the release of child molestors. I happen to agree with Savage that men who pray on young boys should be locked up for life. It isn't a case of privacy it is a case of predators who prey on the most innocent in society.

I don't find this view to be offensive and I found Savage's comments on Saturday's show to be classic. However, the radical gay groups may have won this battle but the war for America and morality is far from over. And in the long run this may be better for Savage to get off a network that in my opinion will be off the air in a few years.
