NEW YORK - MSNBC on Monday fired Michael Savage for anti-gay comments.

The popular radio talk show host who did a weekend TV show for the cable channel referred to an unidentified caller to his show Saturday as a "sodomite" and said he should "get AIDS and die."

Savage was set-up to fail by PMSNBC from the day they hired him. They gave him a crappy time-slot and a low budget.

Here, I think I have what you're looking for. I think Savage was begging to be cancelled for saying what he did...or else he's just plain stupid.

FWIW, if I had a gay neighbor, I would feed his cats for him while he was on vacation, I'd give him a cup of sugar if he asked for it, I would be nice, polite, say "hello" when we met outside, compliment him on his new car...in other words I would treat him like any other neighbor...however, I would not attend his "wedding", or attend any church that would host such a ceremony. I probably wouldn't go to his Super Bowl party, either, unless he was the type that didn't feel the need to flaunt his gayness. I object to homosexual behavior on religious grounds, it is not "just an alternative lifestyle", and I would tell my neighbor this if the subject ever came up. If he decided to be offended at my convictions I would tell him that I was born this way, it's just the way I am and I can't help it, and I should be accepted for that.

No, we don't have to go along with their agenda, but we also don't have go around being stupid a-holes like Savage apparently was on his show.

Let me explain it to the hard of thinking:
He has the right to his opinion. It's not just for leftist losers, you know. He has the right to state it. Does he not?
You used your right to express and type tonight, didn't you? Why deny him his right? What if I disagree with you? What if I feel homosexuality is a Marxist way to dismantle our civilization from within? To break down the moral fiber to the state of national chaos, where only a Socialist society could survive? Should I be banned for it? I'm not PC enought?
It's unusual for a conservative to speak out. He sould be praised, not PC condemned for it.

Well, given that, according to Savage, the comments weren't intended for public consumption, is that even a valid question?
I think if you look across the board at incidents where people have said and done things in the passion of the moment that are regrettable; is what Savage said more or less bad because it was directed at a [supposed] gay person? And given that the phone call was a setup crank call, can we even believe anything the caller said about his identity?
If he had told a straight person "I hope you get the plague and die", would people be as offended?
Just wondering.

Gee whiz, good golly. My name's not Jim. Are you ok?

There are just some people that you do NOT act even marginally civilized with, you simply overpower them since that's the only thing that they respect.

Maybe I'd say those things and maybe I wouldn't. It would depend on a lot of factors, you know. People who are defensive will lash out and a civilized person will not try and push that person.

But liberals and cowardly conservatives who won't support their own like Mike just criticize and attack anyway, so why would anyone act civilized with scum like that? I won't. Savage definitely shouldn't since he's the ONLY ONE out there who takes them on and gives 'em a taste of their own medicine and, even though he's the ONLY ONE out there who does this and there's PLENTY of other hosts at his broadcast times, turncoat, treacherous, cowardly conservatives won't support the ONLY ONE who will take a stand and not sit on the fence, shrug and say 'awe shucks' at every leftist, perverse attack.

Just bend over already you cowards, lube up, and grin and bear it since it can't possibly last that long. Let the raping leftist scum keep having their way with you since it seems you've already been infected with their disease of liberalism.

That being said. I'm done posting for now. I have a schedule.

What did Alan Keyes ever say to get his show on MS-NBC cancelled

On a side note: I happened to be watching Keyes the night he had a conniption fit on his show. He went on a tirade because he didn't like what his pro-palistinian guest was saying/lying about Israel.

His show was cancelled within a very short time after that.

Conservative voices must tow a different standard than the mealy-mouthed leftists who always get away with the most outrageous statememts.

A couple of weeks ago, I came in late on his show and was trying to find out if there was a repeat of it later. MSNBCTV's website was useless for information on this, I had to go to the TV Guide site to find out there wasn't. Specifics on all other shows MSNBC had were readily available there.

This isn't a free speech issue -- I'm not denying he had a right to say what he did. I'm saying he crossed the line and showed himself to be a disgusting human specimen. I'm saying he gives conservatives a bad name.

[By the way, he doesn't have a right to work for MSNBC.}

And you have a right to disagree with me. Next time you meet a homosexual, I invite you to exercise your right to tell him you wish he was dead. And I invite every decent person within earshot to exercise their right to shun you like the plague.

...Gallagher's just a ranting blowhard. Liberals love him because he makes conservatism look stupid

A big hole in the morning radio line-up. Please Mike, tell us another personal story about your family or your army, would you? Shame what happened to Sea Silver. I'm really going to miss you asking me if I've had my Sea Silver today. Hope you had a large supply.

Sure, he has a right to his opinion. He just doesn't have the right to say whatever the hell he wants on MSNBC. His show was on the air at the pleasure of MSNBC, and HE KNEW IT. He also doesn't have the right to have a show on MSNBC. I remember Phil Donahue bitching about being "silenced" when his show was cancelled because of dismal ratings. You all sound a lot like Phil Donahue in this respect.

the comments weren't intended for public consumption

I'd say that's Savage backpedalling and spinning -- a sign that he knows he's toast. I'm skeptical of that sorry excuse.

I listen to Savage too. I don't always agree with him, but I think his sometime hyperbole is his style and I don't mind it. He's very funny sometimes.

I believe that. I dumped MSN as an ISP provider too.
They took over Qwest out here in Washington and it went downhill from there.

I use a local provider now.
