At the conclusion of the dedication ceremony of the Constitution Center, today, July 4th, 2003, on stage, a select few were asked to pull the red, white, and blue ribbons, pulling down ceremonial drape... What they pulled down, instead, was quite unexpected. A heavy frame surrounding a mural came crashing down right in front of the first row of these special guests at the ceremony.

Justice O'Connor was heard to say, "We could have all been killed!"Maybe she should have said "We could have all been post-birth aborted! Talk about enforcing a quota system after the fact - I earned my slot on the SCOTUS fair and square."

The museum ceremony was marred at the end when a heavy frame surrounding a mural fell onto the dais as several people on stage pulled ribbons to unveil the artwork. The center's president, Joseph Torsella, was struck on the head but was able to walk to an ambulance. He was being evaluated at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. A woman also was taken a hospital but appeared to be OK, Rendell said.
Mayor John Street was hit on the shoulder and Sen. Arlen Specter, R-Pa., was struck on the arm, but both appeared to be fine. O'Connor was unhurt.

was the mural strictly tied up or was it loosely tied with virtual made-up ropes?

I wonder how establishment conservatives will justify a Bush appointment of O'Connor as chief justice. Will they just say it is "temporary" and part of an "overall" plan to make the court conservative? And who would believe such "reasoning"? Maybe, Orrin G. Hatch, for starters.

If this happens, many Bush supporters will drop the President like a bad habit. These conservative Republicans will simply stay home in Nov. '04.Which ones are these? I for one am sick of this damn threat. I was a conservative Republican in Texas when the dims held every office except for Sen. Tower. The "conservatives" who showed up in the late 70's and 80's use this treat EVERY time they are unhappy with ANYTHING. Just tell them to shut up and stay home, forever. A Republic is a form of Government where you take what you can get, and anything over 50% means your winning.

Ah, this coalition-buiding just warms my heart.

My guess is the same clowns who couldn't figure out that Hansen was in the KGB, that the Chinese Commies had bought the Clinton White House, or that John Doe#2 looked Middle Eastern, while they chased hillibillies with shotguns and
Daisy air rifles in the backwoods of Idaho, are probably out searching gun shows for the culprits right now. No doubt they are strip-searching unmarried white male stock brokers, lawyers, and college students at the airports.
The weird trajectory and the presence of magic bullet man Specter adds a macabre Discordian quality to the whole thing. If the falling mural frame had an apple with a K, a pyramid capped with an eye, or the phrase "Ring of Fnord" scribbled on it, they should be worried.

Most of the democratic dead voted in Philly during the last presidential election.

The Democratic Undead would be a good title for a campy B SciFi/Horror movie. Starring Bill and Hillary, of course.

Ah, this coalition-buiding just warms my heart. You build nothing with the guy who threatens to take his ball and go home EVERY time he fails to get his way. I for one am sick of begging these people to do what they should. Most of them are new comers to the movement (to me since I started at 16 years old in '66) and are faint of heart.
I do not agree with everything this President, nor any President has done and that includes Reagan. However I believe the DIRECTION we are going is better than it has been since 88.
