Motorists have litigated against them, fired bullets at them and thrown garbage on them — all to get back at the traffic cameras that have caught them in the act of running a red light or speeding.

Now they have a new weapon in their arsenal, and it comes in a can for $29.99. A clear spray called Photoblocker can be applied to license plates to make them hyper-reflective and unreadable when the camera flashes.

This must be shouted from the mountaintops until it is recognized as the scandal it is: WHAT THE HELL IS HILLARY DOING IN FRANCE PROMOTING HER BOOK? There is so much wrong here. She is cozying up to our adversary simply for the sake of money-grubbing. A pox on you, the Hildebeast, a pox. ~by fightinJAG

WHAT? I need to find that article. This is just sick.

I saw an article on a 'stealth porsche' two years ago ......the darn thing had a state of the art radar/laser detector, a plate foil, and such (which by themselves are not much).....however the mark of distinction came in the form of a thin layer of what was claimed to be radar absorbent coating!

The thing looked cool as heck!

Causing havoc on the autobahn. FYI German cops have their own fast cars ...last time i checked bimmers .....'normal' versions with sirens .....since when it comes to the autobahn one thing is for certain! You need something with a lot more oomph than a Crown Victoria squad car to keep up with a BMW M3, Brabus-tuned Mercedes AMGs or, even worse, a Bugatti EB-110 driven by a dude with aspirations of being the next Michael Schumacher! And considering the autobahn is meant for high speeds then for certain the cops needed something fast. Outside the streets of Monaco and the tracks of Modena Italy the best place to see a super-exotic (and i do not mean a corvette or a firebird....think along the lines of a McClaren or Pagani Zonda ) is on the autobahn. It is probably the only place on earth where true sportscars can be allowed to test their limits, and do so on the road (in lieu of a track or some other enclosed area).

Zoom zoom!

However the 'stealth' porsche i mentioned was certainly too expensive even for the Deutsche coppers! They had to stick to 'normal' speedsters!

Excuse me but does anyone mind if I just don't run any red lights and save $29.95?

The problem is that some municipalities are shortening the light's yellow cycle.

The problem is that some municipalities are shortening the light's yellow cycle.

Yes, but Long Beach was recently sued over that when it was revealved they colluded with Lockheed Martin and reduced the timers on their yellow lights to net more tickets and thus more fees for LM.

That suit if I remeber correctly threw out around 50,000 tickets.

And as red light violations are a large cause of fatalities in many municipalities I have no problem with those who run them getting ticketed for it.

I guess some people just believe they have a right to break laws as they see fit if those laws trouble them in even the smallest manner.

Well that's an intuitive guess.

Been studying human nature, have we? ;)

You don't have to run redlights. You can get caught in one. All it takes is one smart ass stopping just over the line and leaving you in the middle of the intersection. Tell it to the judge.

Want a spay that will obscure your plate from the cameras? Try black spray paint. I think satin looks best. These sprays and plastic shields don't work. Actually there is plastic sheild that obstructs any viewing of the plate from off-center. That may work. I haven't seen that tested, of course in some states, like NY any plastic covering over the license plate is illegal. Anyway, these sprays and refelctive covers sometimes obscure the plate from normal photography, but the techs who go through these pictures usually just need to adjust the contrast, brightness, or invert the light/dark of the picture to read the plate.

I think the main problem is they are trying to get people when the light transitions. And they shorten the time to get people. Accidents happen when people run red lights when the other traffic is moving. Accidents don't happen during the transition because the other lanes are stopped.
