[history]
San Francisco's Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender Pride Parade, a celebration of brash camp and inclusive labels, rollicked through the heart of the city Sunday, propelled by bare-chested Tinkerbells, grinning politicians and fresh optimism born of a landmark legal triumph just days ago.

The only sour note came when a half-dozen people tried to attack San Francisco Supervisor Gavin Newsom as he rode in the parade.I'm going to guess that even though they tried to assault a public official they will not be charged under the terrorism laws and will probably get a slap on their limp wrists.

"And that means a lot to me because my (domestic) partner and I have spent 23 years together." Pretty impressive. How does anyone keep a maid that long? Good help is so hard to find.

"We had sodomy for breakfast." In their little world, perversion is one of the basic food groups.

.....and scores of cheerleaders who rendered the crowd breathless by hurling their members high in the air. Many in the crowd were disappointed, however, when seagulls snatched the members from the air before they could reach the ground.
Environmentalists were also concerned as many seagulls in the area are now exhibiting flu-like symptoms, sometimes associated with the early onset of the aids virus.

What's sad is that the few gay people I know CRINGE at the stunts pulled during these parades. They say, and I agree, that the "in-your-face" flaunting that goes on during the Pride parades makes it harder for gays like them (quiet and semi-closeted) to just keep their heads down and be left to live in peace.
What's especially nasty is when they bring up this point in their community they get shouted down by the flamers. So the flamer's conduct is hurting the non-flamer gays and they can't even say anything to get it to stop.

What? No gerbil fireworks over the bay? No naked Twister in Harvey Milk Plaza? Mark Morford didn't dress up and do his Judy Garland tribute show? Pikers.

The
San Francisco DA's office along with some
child abuse Victims, were lamenting on the morning TV news. The fact that about
800 Child abusers were being released from prison, having their convictions erased. Not just their sentances, but the whole conviction. These abusers don't even have to register as sex offenders. Seems that the henious rapes these creeps inflicted to Children is no-longer a crime. :(
I was really suprised to see _that_ on San Francisco TV stations. (which I receive from quite a distance east of Sacramento... Safely in Bush country!)

You'd better hope it doesn't go to the Supreme Court, or it will become legalized federally.
