Affirmative Action? No, it's racial preference.

NOW THAT the Supreme Court has handed down the decision in the University of Michigan affirmative action cases, perhaps the demagoguery can stop.
During the months leading up to the June 23 decision, some in the pro-racial preference camp did not have their better moments. Notice the use of "racial preference camp" instead of "affirmative action" supporters. The affirmative action described in President Johnson's Executive Order 11246, issued on Sept. 28, 1965, specifically said things were to be done without regard to race. The 1964 Civil Rights Act says the same thing.
Although the language in both is clear, there are still some who insist things be done with regard to race. They call themselves supporters of affirmative action, but they should really call themselves racial preference adherents. They'd feel much better.
So the court ruled Monday that racial preferences are kind of good and kind of not-so-good, hovering in that nether region between illegal and legal, although the law of the land clearly says they're illegal.

Kane is a black, conservative columnist. An occasional bright spot in the dreary pages of The Baltimore Sun. This particular column was tucked way back in page 11 of Section B.

This black columinst ought to scream racism....puting his article on page 11, section B in the back of the paper is downright shameful!

Your tagline is correct as far as I am concerned.
I volunteer at a major downtown LA University and I keep hearing how Affirmative Action has actually destroyed lives by taking a student who would be a decent state college candidate and bringing them to where they can't compete, so they fail and get NO DEGREE instead of getting the state college degree they would have had.
Affirmative Action destroys minorities from all sides...IMO!

Here is a post on Yahoo message boards. Blacks better get used to these kind of comments.

Genocide is just an English word for an act of barbarity that has been going on for thousands of years, in ancient China, Greece, Rome, Carthage, Phoenicia... everywhere they recorded their history there is evidence.
The really tragic part of your post is that descendents follow, precedents came before... guess you went to a inner city public school, so we will cut you some slack, per U.S. government guidelines. |

Agreed, and I just don't understand how replacing an existing evil with a new one is making progress.
