Negotiations in progress as shutdown nears
By JOHN P. McALPIN AP Political Writer June 28, 2003, 4:54 PM EDT TRENTON, N.J.(AP) _ Legislators came to work Saturday, ordered by Gov. James E. McGreevey to agree on a budget and a series of tax and fee increases or else deal with a shuttered state government. The Senate Budget Committee, where Republicans have blocked the budget by refusing to vote on any measure that raises taxes, must act by midnight Saturday so the full house can vote Monday. Monday is the constitutional deadline for a balanced budget. Without one, McGreevey says all operations, except emergency services, will halt.

That's one of those coffee cups with a lid like you get at Starbucks. If it were a Pabst I'd have been impressed, though.

After the christening, the SS McGreedy sets sail on her maiden voyage. Captain McGreedy vows to go down with the ship.

Shut down? Nah...
That's all scare tactics just as Clinton tried to do with the federal budget when newt was Speaker.
Money flows in every day: income tax, sales tax, cigarette tax, etc...There's plenty of money coming in, what is stalling the process is that they can't agree how and where to SPEND it.

Tell me the GOP RINOs in N.J aren't waiting for payoffs to raise taxes like their scumbag counterparts did in the New York State Senate.

Sure they will, government gridlock, in this day of huge intrusive government, means the people will get a break.Value producers that is not the usual moochers.
I read somewhere that when doctors go on strike the death rate drops. The people in New Jersey hopefully can expect a drop in individual liberty restrictions for a short while.
