A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

Thanks, Mixer!
1) Click on the graphic to open the Calendar. 2) Once there you can click on any month and even click to the right to go into next year. Once you are in the month that you joined FR you will need to click on the number in the calendar and then an add item screen will come up. 3) In the next box enter your name in the "Calendar Text" field and then click on submit. 4) If any of the screens fail to load simply click on refresh in your browser and that will usually fix it. 5) If all else fails or simply if you want me to do this for you send me a FReepmail and I will gladly do it for you. ~Mixer

Summertime! A time for home grown ripe tomatoes and peach cobbler with home made vanilla ice cream. :)

My goodness - cheery 'faces' already here, with two kinds of coffee and doughnuts - our personal pilot - and Aqua willing to share those vine-ripened tomatoes that
taste like tomatoes!
Happy Summer indeed..:))
Still 'cool' for South Carolina for this late in the year, most days below 90 degrees, and lower humidity than I can ever remember in the South!
Today is to go to about 83 degrees.

Home grown tomatoes are my favorite things but I can't grow them.
Put a little Miracle Whip on the tomatoes and put cracker crumbs on them. Good! But get soggy fast.

I could live on tomato sandwiches during the summer months. Mayonaise on both slices of bread, sliced real tomatoes and a little salt. Ahhhhhh ...... summer and home grown tomatoes!

Don't laugh, Rus, but although I grew up in Florida in 'Before AC Days,' and lived in South Carolina, North Carolina and Virginia, the very hottest and most miserable time of my life was one summer in Rochester, New York!
Accustomed to frequent breezes to make life tolerable, a few days of 90's there, the heat reverberating and intensifying in the asphalt jungle of the city, were the worst I have ever spent.
Even at night, it was ovenlike.

If I liked cucumbers, I would probably be eating those sandwiches also. Do you think I must like Mayo? When I was a kid, I would take a salt shaker to the garden, pick a Ripe tomato and stand outside enjoying that tomato.
Our tomatoes are just now starting to get ripe. One for a salad now and then. I'm looking forward to enough so I can eat a sandwich everyday and not feel guilty about hoarding them for myself. LOL If we have many more days of 108, they will be ripe in no time at all.

I see I got everyone's attention with those home grown tomatoes. lol!
Wish I could share mine with you lonestar...why can't you grow them? Do you have limited yard space?
I'm with you Amy...I love tomato sandwiches! They should be ripe in another week here. Every year they ripen up right at the 4th of July. Same with the peaches...just in time to celebrate with a cobbler.

"I see I got everyone's attention with those home grown tomatoes."
Mentioning those tomatoes was almost cruel; I haven't had breakfast yet, well ........ except for Fiddlstix's coffee and donuts. I think I need to go back for seconds. LOL

I'm not laughing, I know it's true.
It can get miserable here in Buffalo too.. When it get's hot the humidity stays high cause we are right on the water.
The hottest I have ever felt it was when I was in Laughlin, Nevada and Bullhead city Arizona. It was 128 degrees and humidity around 60%. The construction job shut down at 11:30 in the morning. I consider that 5 weeks in hades..

I lived on a farm when I was 12 to 14. We grew tomatoes and cukes. The tomato fights we had were great. There is nothing quite like the flavor of fresh picked veggies.

Lodwick, where's Lodwick.
It's been months since she has been posted
To: The Mayor
We have a shorter growing season here in the mountains which intensifies the flavor. Ever noticed that everything taste better in the mountains? That's one reason...the views are the other. :)
