McDermott attacks Bush as liar over WMD during prescription debate on the floor

The debate is one of the nastiest I've seen on the floor of the House of all time--Nancy Johnson (R-CT) seems to be taking the brunt of the vicious attacks (and I do mean vicious) from the Democrats.

Jim McDermott (D-WA) just said the Republicans can't be trusted on prescription drugs because WMD have not been found in Iraq (he mistakenly said "Iran" first, at which time the Republican members took the opportunity to laugh hysterically at him). Called Bush a liar, at which time the Chair ordered him to sit down. Billy Tauzin (R) followed up by saying "It looks like we just found Baghdad Bob." McDermott broke in out of order and asked if it was appropriate for a member to do this, at which time he was again slapped down by the Chair as being out of order.

Frank Pallone (D-NJ) went completely crazy just after that--it was insane asylum material. Frank Stark (D-CA)now calling Ryan (R-WI) a liar.

AN ADMISSIBLE ADMISSION Rep. James McDermott acknowledged in court papers last month that he leaked to two reporters a recording made of a cell phone call between Rep. John Boehner and then-Speaker Newt Gingrich, Rep. Dick Armey and Rep. Tom DeLay. The conversation between the House leadership included how best to spin the expected House Ethics Committee report on Gingrich's fundraising tactics for non-House related projects.

A Florida couple using a scanner intercepted the December 1996 conference call, most likely picking up the signal from Boehner's cell phone. The couple then traveled to Washington, D.C. and handed the tape over to McDermott, a liberal Democrat from Washington state and then member of the House Ethics Committee, who says he listened to the tape, considered it to be of significant public interest, and then leaked its contents to two Capitol Hill reporters.

He's definitely been mixed up-first he said Medicare and the prescription drugs were free and just recently,he seems to have come to the realization,that every generation has been paying their way,with payroll taxes. He also said that he had no idea joining the prescription drug plan was optional,he mixed up the amount and deductible. NBC Nightly News showed a clip of him ,on air, tonight and I thought he did not look well.

Hugh is a super-bright guy and he really shines in the mechanics of Party electoral politics and in issues before the Court. Nobody can deconstruct a goofball professor or lefty like Medved - and he really knows the Middle East and World History. Prager is really interesting in moral and ethical issues.

Rush doesn't have the keen insight anymore, and he is a lousy interviewer.
