The Fisher House program is a unique private-public partnership that supports America's military in their time of need by providing homes close to a loved one during the hospitalization for an unexpected illness, disease, or injury. There are currently 31 houses located on the grounds of every major military medical center and several VA medical centers. These houses will play a critical role in caring for casualties from Operation Iraqi Freedom. Donations will be used to help meet the cost of lodging for a family whose loved one was injured in Operation Enduring Freedom or Operation Iraqi Freedom. There is a limit to the number of families who can stay in a Fisher House and program is committed to help provide lodging for families who must find commercial lodging, because the Fisher House is full.

Access the Wounded Heroes Guestbook to write a message of encouragement for a hero wounded in the line of duty.   Messages in the Wounded Heroes Guestbook are viewed by wounded soldiers, their loved ones, and the general public.

Dear Troops and Canteen,

This morning I decided to go for a joyride in Ma's car. (Oh! I know what you are thinking. No! I did not wreck Ma's car and it's not in any form of water. Well, I think it isn't.) Anyways, I was worried about Ma's feelings and I decided to drive home. I think she was very upset with our brother, Tomkow, because PETA showed up at her doorstep yesterday. You will have to read the Pancakes thread to understand what he did. Anyways, I came home and there was no Tom anywhere. I think I heard something coming from the basement, but I couldn't be bothered. It is scary down there and I've often heard Gremlins rummaging down there. So? I didn't respond. So? I did what any normal sister would do..I took a nap. I got up and Ma was going on about something ridiculous. She wanted to know what bentfeather and I had done with Tomkow. Well, considering we hadn't seen him. Who knows. (Hey! We had a drama yesterday because Bentfeather is cheating on Barry White. Hello?) Anyways, Tomkow is missing. If you happen to see our brother, please tell him to call our Ma. She's just worried sick about him.  Tell him that we miss him and wish he'd come home. It's just not the same without our Burka Man and his "voices". Please help bring Tomkow home to the Canteen. It's just not the same without him.
