CHP issued Be On the Look Out for 50 foot trailer heading for Burbank Airport.
police scanner

CHP is playing a BOLO for a 50 foot tractor trailer combination, supposedly filled with explosives and heading for Burbank Airport Monday morning.
Supposedly a phone call at a pay phone in Texas gave them this information....probably a hoax, but information being repeated hourly over the police bands. Have seen a mention on KTLA 10 o clock news in LA also.
There is a search point set up at the Arizona / CA border with CHP and Arizona Troopers searching large SUVs and trucks.

I hope it *is* a hoax and not the real thing. Be careful...be vigilant.

I heard from a friend with a police scanner that officers Frank Poncharelli and John Baker are on the case. They ALWAYS get their man (and Ponch, the women).

I went through Burbank airport a couple of weeks ago. If it was blown up I wouldn't see it as a big loss (as long as no one was hurt). It's not believable that it is a major terrorist target.

"I went through Burbank airport a couple of weeks ago...It's not believable that it is a major terrorist target." Indeed, why Burbank?
Hoax alert!

Could be a classic diversion... I wouldn't rush to SFO right now.

I just heard it on KFI too. Kind of weird that the description is so detailed - right down to the painted over ad on the truck.
You'd think it would be easy to find. I'm betting on a hoax.

There is more to Burbank Airport than meets the eye. At least it used to be, and maybe still is, the location of the Skunk Works - the group that developed the stealth technology, the U2 spy plane, and lots of other military goodies.

Sacramento station KCRA3 just reported that CHP is on the lookout for a green 50 ft truck from Texas. Stated the destination was Southern California per phone call. No mention of Burbank.
We now return you to your regularly scheduled programming...

it used to be, and maybe still is, the location of the Skunk Works Interesting. I wish I had known that. I read a book on the history of the Skunk Works several years ago. Nevertheless, I was quite surprised with how old the airport seemed.

Johnny Carson must have called this one in.

Local tv news reporting truck located by NE corner of airport a short while ago. Police on scene. Bomb squad from LAPD and Burbank suited up and getting ready to begin searching. No interruption to airport service as if yet.
