Sears' Money Goes to Assist Already Affluent Homosexual Community

(AgapePress) - The largest homosexual advocacy organization in America has received a large financial grant from Sears, Roebuck and Company.

Last week, an article in The Washington Post newspaper confirmed what critics of homosexual advocacy have been saying for nearly a decade: homosexuals are among the most affluent segments of American society. So Peter LaBarbera of the Culture and Family Institute was surprised to find out one of the nation's largest retailers is trying to help homosexuals out with a grant.

Peter LaBarbera "We've learned that Sears Roebuck, the retailer that's so well-known to Americans, has awarded a $200,000 grant to the Human Rights Campaign Foundation, which is affiliated with the Human Rights Campaign [HRC] -- the largest homosexual pressure group in the United States and probably the world," he says.

LaBarbera feels if there is any group in society that does not need financial help, it is homosexuals. He says without the expenses of rearing families, homosexuals have been able to save enormous cash reserves. But HRC gladly received the grant for a special project to assist homosexual, bisexual, and transgender Americans with home ownership.

He says it is "almost funny ... because I'm sure homosexuals are doing quite well when it comes to owning homes."

'Most Pro-Gay Presidential Field Ever' Meanwhile, a pro-family activist says the Democratic Party has completely given itself over to the "radical gay activist agenda" -- so he is not surprised by a recent report that rated the group of 2004 Democratic presidential hopefuls as "the most pro-gay presidential field ever."

But Robert Knight of the Culture and Family Institute says most Americans are uncomfortable with the Democrats' embrace of the radical homosexual agenda.

Robert Knight "This is a party in decline -- it's in eclipse," he says. "Most Americans are uneasy with this, and yet they feel so bold looking over the border at Canada and what it [has done] that they think Americans are ready to promote homosexuality as something normal and healthy.

"I think they're wrong, and I think the Republicans ought to stand firm on this and give people a reason to see the differences in the parties as being very profound."

According to Knight, the Democratic Party has given itself over fully to "sexual anarchy."

"They've embraced the radical gay activist agenda, right down to gay marriage by another name -- they've backed 'civil unions' -- and most of the candidates backed the rest of the radical homosexual agenda," he says.

The report was put together by the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force (NGLTF), which rated the nine announced Democratic candidates on eleven issues it considered important. The NGLTF gave former Illinois Senator Carol Moseley Braun the highest marks for supporting all eleven of its agenda items, while Senator Bob Graham of Florida was rated as the least "gay-friendly" of the group.

To you and others who feel this way, just one question: why?

This article is nothing more than a bigoted attack on Sears for something worthwhile they've done!

Please tell me what is worthwhile in supporting organizations that attack our churches, our governing bodies and our family structures, all because of a chosen behavior that most of us find revolting.

Look this is America, so I guess thye can go back into their bedrooms or their closets or whateverand do vile things in private, but I don't want to hear about it or see it. I don't want them teaching their filth and perversion to my children or flaunting it in public in front of my family.

I resent Sears for spending money to advance all of the above, when they could be funding real causes like crisis pregnancy centers, or food and clothing for poor people.

One of the things homosexual advocacy groups deal with is helping victims of discrimination and violence, some of it engendered by thinking like yours. If there weren't people as judgmental and prejudiced as you, there'd be no need for the advocacy groups Sears has given money to.

Are they going to help all the other people who are discrimanted against because of their chosen recreational hobbies? Gunowners? Fisherman? Bikers? Skateboarders?

Why what? Why do we use the power of our pocketbook in a capitalist society and free market to express our displeasure at the way a corportation spends its profit that we helped create? Is this what you are asking? Because it is a proven way to get a point across to corporate America when it is supporting monetarily ideas that undermine our society and families. Is that good enough? Plus in my faith, I am responsible where my money is spent to be a good steward of the money, etc that the Lord has given me. It is not being a good steward to give my money to a corporation that gives grants to such causes especially when there are other choices out in the free market.

I was planning to buy a refrigerator at Sears

We stopped years ago. We decided that we wished to support locally owned businesses and to our surprise, we found out that their prices are more competitive than the national chains. The cost of the appliances are about the same but all the other costs are revealed up front and are always much less than the costs Sears tack on.

What a crock! Do you mean judgmental or prejudiced. Prejudiced means to prejudge without knowledge or facts and usually based upon the superficial such as race or skin color or religion. As to being judgmental, everyone is judgmental. Eveyone makes judgements everyday. You are judgmental yourself in your response to ElkGroveDan. You know little about him and yet you leap to conclusions.
I do not go around telling everyone about my sexual orientation as it is no one else's business. I like ElkGroveDan would prefer that people keep it to themselves. It would be difficult to discriminate against someone if their orientation was not known. The homosexuals who choose to be "in your face" with behavior that is considered to be deviant by a significant portion of the population are not asking for acceptance. They want to create a firestorm.

I'll go down your list. Gunowners: yes, I'm a member of the NRA. Fishermen: yes, I support a couple of organizations that fight for clean and free rivers. Bikers: Didn't know they needed any help. Skateboarders: if they're my kids, as long as they wear knee pads and helmets, I'll do anything I can to help them.

I think you make an interesting point. People can vote with their feet when it comes to where they shop. Not when you pay taxes, though, and a good deal of that money goes to causes we may find immoral. Whether you render unto Caesar or Sears, being a good steward is a difficult task.

Links to some good Israeli shopping. A lot of them include shipping in the price of the item, some of them offer free shipping. Mostly good deals, IMO.:

That is true. You must be informed. As to rendering to the government, we are to do that. It is clear from the comments of Christ that that you referenced. All we can do in that situation is pray for those who represent us, vote intelligently and contact our representatives to express our opinions which I do even knowing that Cantwell and Murray will not listen. As to the spending my money in other areas, I do have control over that.

I went to the Sears homepage. They list the CEO and corporate officers, but no emails. If someone can find them some other way, please post.

Ok then, but I doubt Sears will be funding efforts to protect those groups from the PC forces. Besides those peopel don't go out and attack churches, so I guess those were weak examples.

Now what if I find a hobby where I pollute lakes and streams with toxic waste. It gives me GREAT pleasure. I know its unusual and society doesn't accept that but lets not be prejudiced here. As a recreational toxic polluter I demand acceptance and tolerance. In fact I am going to bring used oil to Disneyland and pour it down the drain in front of everyone in celebration of my hobby. If you don't want your children to see that, well that's your problem.

If your friends can pollute society with their moral filth, and poisons why can't I pollute the environment as well?
