"The Cuban leader hurled profanities at Mr. Santos and his mother and questioned her marital status at the time of Mr. Santos' birth. Mr. Castro also questioned the disc jockey's sexual orientation."

Oh, Castro did more than just question it. Castro called one of the DJ's "unos Maric" or "maricones", which means "faggot" in Spanish.

In other words, Castro just threw out the entire socialist Revolution. One can't be very "progressive" if one is anti-gay, after all.

And Castro has now been exposed as a gay-bashing homophobe by these two heroic DJ's.

Gee, think anyone on the Left will dare criticize their hero Castro for being anti-gay?!

Nah, they'll probably simply deny it was "Dr" Castro's voice. Probably some "right-wing" "neo-con" trying to make poor Fidel look bad.

They had already made a fake call as Castro to Venesula. Then there were the DJs who called Chirac in France and claimed to be Jerry Lewis (Lewis wasn't happy).

How long before the FCC formulates a law against making prank calls to foreign world dictators/leaders?

Phony phone call dupes Castro, sparks a tirade

Excerpt:

Cuba's Fidel Castro sprayed South Florida with a barrage of unprintable expletives yesterday after discovering that he was having a live radio conversation with two disc jockeys from that area who had called pretending to be Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez's aides.

While on the air, Enrique Santos and Joe Ferrero of the WXDJ-FM Spanish-language station in Coral Gables persuaded Mr. Castro to help track down a lost briefcase that contained sensitive documents.

The two, who have gained international notoriety by using ruses to ring up Latin American presidents and South Florida dignitaries, used pre-recorded phrases that can be replayed at the touch of a button to engage Mr. Castro in a four-minute conversation.

Please let me know if you want ON or OFF my General Interest or Florida ping list!. . .don't be shy.

The earlier Chirac prank had, I heard, gotten the radio station in dutch with the FCC, because the rules forbid broadcasting the voice of a telephoned party, or even recording his voice to play later, without his prior permission. I don't know how that turned out; maybe they decided the rule doesn't apply when the telephoned party is not in the USA.
