Hostage situations are so damned successful... When one comes up you know you're dealing with some pretty dim bulbs. It's almost as pointless as failing to pull over when an officer orders you to.

CLTV- two people being held hostage, making progress with negotiations, two released, one male with health problems, one female. No injuries reported. Police Chief Bennett said it is the First National Bank of Plainfield. State, County, Local, Joliet SWAT and FBI on scene.

I was in one that was successful. I worked at ESL when Richard Farley came in and killed 7 people. After that, about 30-40 of our employees were trapped in the building. The SWAT team waited out Farley, and after about 5 hours he came out and no one else was killed.

You know, these hostage situations baffle me too. Has a hostage situation ever resulted in the perpetrator getting his demands met and his freedom? I don't think so. They end up in the slammer every single time. What morons.
