You know, these hostage situations baffle me too. Has a hostage situation ever resulted in the perpetrator getting his demands met and his freedom? I don't think so. They end up in the slammer every single time. What morons.

Whether it's robbing banks, car chases, speeding or walking against the light, looking over your shoulder is a pi-- poor way to go through life. Just follow the rules. Do the right then and relax. Then respect yourself for being a good example to others.
These issues each impact on others. If we all lived by the golden rule this place would be much more enjoyable.

"They end up in the slammer every single time. What morons.Understatement of the century. Same thing with the stupid car chases in LA, VA, Atlanta (well, Atlanta doesn't really count, you're always in a car chase there) wherever. They always get caught.
But sometimes, innocent victims lose their lives in the process. It happened here in Tampa a few years back. A guy who "accidentally" shot his 2year old killed 2 detectives and a state trooper before taking hostages in a gas station on I-75. The SWAT team went in and he came out dead.
I didn't shed any tears for him, but 3 families did who lost a father, a brother, an uncle or a friend.
