June 17, 2003 Several robbers are reportedly holding about a dozen people hostage at First Illinois Bank in southwest suburban Plainfield. One person has been released. Police were called to the scene at 1 p.m. and roads in the area have been closed. Police have closed off the streets on Rt. 59 between 135th and 143rd streets. SWAT teams have surrounded the building and are moving in.
Several law enforcement agencies are at the scene. The bank is adjacent to a strip mall, which may have been evacuated for security reasons.

My inference was that the perps never get away. From the police angle, as far as the perps not getting away, of course they ARE successful. I agree with you.
Sorry to hear about your company's incident. What a shame.

41.3 driving miles from Des Plaines to Plainfield.
Or, at this time of day, about 3 hours commute.

"Anyone getting any updates?"Well, no. I just turned on WGN (I live in Florida) and they don't seem too concerned, as they are showing that dumb show "Erkel" or whatever it is called.
Judy Wooddruff was busy stroking John Edwards ego on CNN; FNN was doing the Cavuto Show and MSNBC only breaks in when they get new info. However, I did hear that 2 hostages were released but 3? are still inside.
If I was one of those hostages, and I was in my right mind (which will never happen), I'd play sick too.

You know, these hostage situations baffle me too. Has a hostage situation ever resulted in the perpetrator getting his demands met and his freedom? I don't think so. They end up in the slammer every single time. What morons.

As of 2:31 p.m. (MDT) two people released by the robber, but two more are supposedly still being held hostage. Re: WLS - Chicago. No more info, so it appears it's a wait and see situation and this point.

Plainfield, IL?
Shoot, I thought maybe it was a redux of the Dalton gang in Plainfield, Minnesota....
