FReeper Help Wanted

A few years ago I created the FReeRepublic Memorial Wall. At the time I only used 3 rules as to who would be honored on the Wall. Those rules were:
1- The person had died
2- The person was a FReeper
3- Family permission

The reasons I settled on those rules were simple. I felt that FReepers earned the right to be remembered simply by being a FReeper. If they were a member of the forum, they qualify. This insured that there would be no politics, cliques, or favorites involved over who gets a plaque and who does not. I included family permission because the plaques do contain some personal information. The late FReeper's real name and the year of birth. I felt that the wishes of the family had to be respected at all times.

I now find myself in the awkword position of not being able to continue updating the Memorial Wall. Due to my health and my limited time online I am not here often enough to continue. It is a dis-service to those who are listed, and to those who need to be added.

For this reason I am looking for someone to take over this task. I know that FReepers are just dying to be listed on the wall, but in reality it does not take much to maintain it. If anyone is interested, please contact Jim Robinson. After all, it is Jim's forum and I think he should have the final say on how it is maintained. Jim has the page on the FR server and I have always sent him the updated HTML code as a zip file in e-mail for him to upload.

I am available as a last resort. I'm new here. A Freeper that has been here longer should get that honor. But I'm willing to step up if no one else wants that position.

Thank you so much for what you've done in the past. Once in a while, I will still go back and sit there with OldAtlanta. I miss him so much. Others feel the same way about the others listed on the Memorial Wall. So, once again, THANK YOU!

To clarify, as I said above, it is time to pass the batton.

I will not choose who takes it over. I don't feel it is my position to do so. This forum is Jim's house, and out of respect it is his decision. If you think you want to take it on, contact Jim. I will not respond to freep-mail because I am not here much.

The Memorial does not take that much time to update. I just copy a plaque and paste it to the bottom, changeing the contents to the specifics of the FReeper. Each plaque is a table.

Fair warning: Most updates will break your heart. It is hard to say good-bye to online friends for the last time.

I posted this thread with the thought that hopefully out of the thousands of FReepers, the matter could be worked out amoung yourselves and Jim can ratify the results.
