Newt Gingrich on one of this week"s Sean Hannity radio shows said that Hillary "has no worse than a 1 in 3 chance of becoming president".
Other things he said almost verbatim:
"Those who underestimate the Clintons in politics, no matter what they may think of them in other areas, are making a big mistake.
"She has endless ambition, is very smart, very determined, and works very hard."

I think Newt underestimates her chances. I'll write an essay today (or in the next few days) to describe why.

I hope Newt reveals the 'methodology' he used to scientifically compute the 1/3 odds. I don't expect this to happen soon.
To: 7 x 77
If she does then the Republicans, like in 1932, have no one else to blame but themselves.

If Republicans do not start doing something now to promote a viable candidate for '08, I believe Hillary may well become President.

without a doubt. she has the entire weight of the US mainstream media behind her, she will never answer a question that has not been pre-screened and staged in advance (and she can get away with it), she is a celebrity, she starts with a solid 43% of the vote, the Dems will commit any act of voter fraud necessary to get her elected, and the pubbies are doing nothing to groom a candidate for 2008.
freepers who say she has no chance of being elected are fooling themselves.

For those who believe Hillary when she says she is "moderate", they have only to see her comments this week in NY about allowing domestic partners benefits.

She has the graveyard vote sewn up. This is scary. We do need to start finding viable candidates to run against her. I wish something would come up that would stick to Hillary like glue. It would have to be really bad, since she's gotten away with everything else...

I can't believe now that Bill C. is no longer in the WH that they are not vulnerable. If the Dem bastids could bring down powerful people like Gingrich, Lott etc, why in God's name can't the Pubies bring down a freshman senator with so much criminal baggage as Hillary Clinton?

I think Newt underestimates her chances. I put her chances at better than 50%, and that's if she ran in 2004. Reasons are as follows:
1) More immigrants (legal and illegal) who come from statist countries. Whoever the RATS nominate will appeal to this group.
2) Voter fraud in the metropolitan cesspools.
3) A lot of women will vote for the "first woman to run for president".
4) A sluggish economy with rising unemployment.
5) A conservative base which is disatisfied because of Bush's stances on guns, globalization, and increased gov't. A lot of folks are going to sit at home in 2004 unless the trend is reversed.

If Republicans do not start doing something now to promote a viable candidate for '08, The only people I've heard of being promoted are mostly empty suit statists like Guiliani and Ridge.
I'd like to see Alan Keyes, Ron Paul, or Gov. Gary Johnson run, as they represent the "individual Freedom" wing of the party.

DEMS=HEART ATTACK

why in God's name can't the Pubies bring down a freshman senator with so much criminal baggage as Hillary Clinton? Because most of them are corrupt like her, albeit to a lesser degree.

It all depends on what happens to the economy over the next few years. W will be re elected, because I believe the market is going to continue firming over the next 12-18 months.
If, however, we are in for a protracted period of very sluggish growth intermediate term (3-10 yrs), then I think we can say hello to President Hillary Clinton, and we will all have to work very, very hard to ensure that she does not socialize our nation.

Newt's giving odds now? Who does he think he is, Bill Bennett?

1) More immigrants (legal and illegal) who come from statist countries. Whoever the RATS nominate will appeal to this group. Dick Morris says this is the reason that any Democrat will be the front-runner in '08.
